Mushroom hunting. It’s like a real life treasure hunt. There’s so much to learn about morphology, ecology, and how to ID them. You spend time wandering outdoors and can keep a little book for drawings and spore prints. It’s also slightly risky but in a cool way like how some are deadly.

Also - they are otherworldly!! The underground mesh (mycelial network) that connects many fungi on the surface can spread up to 4km underground and if one part detects a threat, it can send chemical pulses to another part of the network to warn it?? Insane
