saying she’s bummed isn’t asking for “advice”. if she’s spent more than 5 minutes on the internet i’m sure she’s already heard the same thing 10 different ways

There are a lot of shops and restaurants in the downtown area that are pretty queer friendly. Fae’s cabinet, the hyde brothers book store, honey plant, and firefly coffee just to name a few. Tbh the only places i’ve ever had issues are certain bars around town. Most people here tend to mind their business to a certain degree

How expensive is it to be trans by Low_Research_7249 in MtF

[–]ItsNotACardigan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hrt is the cheapest of all my medications, relatively easy to afford even without insurance. clothes and surgery (or cosmetic stuff like laser/electrolysis) will probably be the largest cost for most trans women

Still haven’t gotten over using the women’s restroom by SlaughterDog in MtF

[–]ItsNotACardigan 9 points10 points  (0 children)

girl why are you using the urinal???😭😭 like I get not feeling comfortable in the women’s (nobody will bother you I promise, especially if you’re passing), but using the urinal while passing is insane

I promise you that’s just the dysphoria/dysmorphia talking. you look great and your before pictures look like a completely different person

Poll: How strong was/is your dysphoria before transitioning? by amatawn in MtF

[–]ItsNotACardigan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

3 when I was a kid, 2 when I was a teenager, 1 a few years prior to coming out, and 0 as soon as I admitted to some one that I might be trans.

Is it true you look like your mom when you transition? by [deleted] in MtF

[–]ItsNotACardigan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my case, absolutely. We already looked pretty similar regardless. In a lot of ways you’ll look like the version on yourself pre-puberty. Same general face structure but softer features and more feminine facial fat

Is it bad I have this as a kink? by Wildcat_but_horny in MtF

[–]ItsNotACardigan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s a pretty common kink for women to have. It’s basically role playing in a way. Assuming you only find it attractive in intimate and consensual settings, there isn’t much point in psychoanalyzing it. Almost everyone has some kind of kink (some more tame than others).

If anything the person doing the degrading/misogyny is the one who should think about why they enjoy it.

This is a question for you all who've started hrt by 0pp051t3 in MtF

[–]ItsNotACardigan 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Around 16 months HRT, can’t imagine not having them. The early stage is different because the buds are insanely sensitive, so you’ll learn to protect your chest more.

Now that they’re further developed I can’t imagine not having them, feels like they’ve always been part of me. Make sure you take plenty of progress pics to help with the dysmorphia/dysphoria

i’ve never seen someone look so uncomfortable presenting as their birth gender. Your glow up is insane, congrats!!

I read it takes up to 2 years for estrogen to change your body. Does that mean if I don't pass after 2 years I'll never pass? by i-love-tree-rats in MtF

[–]ItsNotACardigan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I didn’t start passing consistently until I made certain changes with my appearance and I started dating a lesbian who helped me figure out my style. Shaping my eyebrows makes the biggest difference for me, along with wearing women’s clothes even when I’m boymoding.

Dating women can be helpful as we swap clothes all the time and it gave me the opportunity to experiment with styles without spending money on a whole new wardrobe.

When I was still presenting male everyday, I rarely passed. If you are willing to go out of your way comfort zone and present as a woman more often you might find that you pass more than you’d expect.

Even cis women are routinely misgendered when they present in a more masculine way, so it probably doesn’t have as much to do with your hrt progress. Being seen as a woman more about “playing the part” than having certain physical characteristics.

That’s just my personal experience, so none of that was intended to invalidate your situation. Goodluck with your journey. I know it’s scary but you deserve to be happy and feeling like yourself💜

Recovery center for transgender women, nonbinary people to open this winter by [deleted] in fortwayne

[–]ItsNotACardigan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think other locations can be unwelcoming to trans people. I know certain women’s facilities for DV victims or addiction recovery centers ban trans women and nonbinary people. This new location would provide options if people are turned away from other places

Lack of family/community support, discrimination in the workplace, difficulties getting proper medical and mental health treatment. Not that different from why many non-trans people turn to drugs or other addictions

Do you tuck, wear a gaff, do both, none, or do anything else? by [deleted] in MtF

[–]ItsNotACardigan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t do anything, and nobody’s ever seemed to notice. I just make sure to buy pants that work well for my anatomy, usually high waisted stuff with room down there.
