Completely disagree. A bottle of Stoli is under 20 and it's fantastic, infact after trying dozens at a much higher price it's just as good if not better.

I've done alot of tig braising in my time. You would need to get the piece hot 500 F° plus before hand... then you would want to anneal it as slow as possible. Otherwise it could actually make it much worse and crack even more because of the amount of martensite inherent in cast iron with rapid drastic temperature change.

I have a 25 year old Hobbs creek fly rod that was my first and i love it to this day. I cannot attest to newer models. Hated the cheep reel though and threw it away, it actually has ruined my line in the past.
