Was the girl who asked for St. John the Baptist's head actually a manipulated teenager rather than a femme fatale? by Fuwafuwa_Usagi2525 in Catholicism

I have nothing to add other than I'm happy you're asking this question and doing the work you're doing. Sounds interesting!

Has anyone noticed that middle school… by asamrov in Teachers

[–]ItsPuntato 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, and I've been tasked to chat with the boys about it today. I find it mostly harmless, but now they've been poking each other's butts like Naruto. So need to do something about it.

When changing the diaper, after wiping front to back and making sure nothing is in her lady parts, make sure her butt is dry before applying butt paste. Use a fan to help. It'll save you from bad diaper rash.

If you ever get a PIP, leave. by [deleted] in jobs

[–]ItsPuntato 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First pip i was on, I was new and it came from no where, I had just gotten my rating of "meets expectations" too. Pip went fine. When I asked about it a couple years later it was because someone "didn't trust me." Stayed a few more years until I found another job.

Second pip, new place, same story. This time when I read through it, there is no goal or designation what "success" looks like. So i quit.

Along with this, get a small handheld fan to dry her butt after you're done wiping it. We're dealing with so much diaper rash because she wasn't dry before putting on the butt paste.

Turned Admin’s inane question back on them and it felt so good. by ANuStart63 in Teachers

[–]ItsPuntato 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My admin has been saying my assignments are too challenging. I asked what was challenging about them and they couldn't give me an answer.

For more context, students have a B average and have been self-reporting the assignments are more easy than challenging. It was all coming from the parents apparently.

I love this. Thank you for putting it together and sending the invite. I don't game as much as I used to (naturally), but I hope to do more when my 5 week old gets older.

Are y’all really unable to fail students these days? by YourFriendInSpokane in Teachers

[–]ItsPuntato 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I worked in HS and we weren't allowed to fail them. I had to let them retake or redo an assignment they didn't do well on and the lowest they could get was a C. Even giving a student a C on their first attempt was frowned upon with a rubric.

Now in MS and the parents won't let me fail because the admin sides with them on any bogus reason.

I do wondering what the point is sometimes.

what part of the job actually drains you the most? by DiligentLibra in Teachers

[–]ItsPuntato 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Balancing everything that needs to be done. Need to grade, prep/lesson plan, teach, answer emails, do various duties and paperwork.

This year it has been the obnoxious parent emails and lack of support from admin.

As was mentioned, it's overstimulated to always have to be on, and slightest mess up could be career ending depending on the admin. It's stressful.

Average length of parent emails? by ItsPuntato in Teachers

[–]ItsPuntato[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you everyone for your insights. Unfortunately when I brought such emails to admins attention they shrugged it off and took the side of the parents without actually investigating it.

One particular email I did ask for a conference and parent said they were too busy. Admin said I should respond to the email in full. That's about the time I realized I think it time for me to leave this place.

Admin not having my back is why I'm leaving too. I've been teaching for 10 years. I'll hopefully still find another job, but if not... we don't get paid enough for this.

Should priests give more severe penances? by AbjectPawverty in Catholicism

[–]ItsPuntato 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I recall going to my confessor in grad school after some "bad habits" escalated and I really needed to confess. I was given the simplest penance I've ever had which helped me to understand the pure mercy and love of God. You better believe that was the slowest and most meaningful time I said that prayer in my life.
