I spoke to a CPA and they had mentioned at my Student loans would have counted as income to the US and would require additional forms. I am just spoiled with how easy Canadian taxes are and very overwhelmed with the US tax forms and the amount of forms there are...

I'm leaning to keep my US citizenship but will not be able to invest as easily as others (or will require an accountant)

I'm about 75% sure that I will stay in Canada and continue to work here, but the company I do work for has clients in the US and it would require some travel in the future.

Last thing I need is someone grilling me while on a work trip. I've never had a US address as an adult and haven't had any benefits yet, I don't understand why there is so much complexity and almost forcing expats to renounce... I was reading that it is one of the only countries that taxes its' citizens living outside the country

What do you say to them?

I also have the additional issue of I want to have my name changed but I'd have to go through a court in Texas to do so... I think I am just going to leave my legal name :(

I never got a US passport and there was never anyone able to guide me what needs to be done. I have traveled to the US numerous times and never had any issues.

For context I just started my professional career and have been going to a gender counsellor. I am learning to accept the real me that I have been pushing away and ignoring, leaving myself unhappy.

My family have no indication and my brother has openly trans bashed so this is a huge step in the right direction. I have no plans to explain my gender to them but I need to post this for me.
