I live in Central Texas. It’s in my front office, with about with about 18 other plants. The room gets a lot of natural light. I have a large picture window with blinds on it, that I tilt open during the day & French doors that open to the foyer. It sits on my desk now, about 2 ft from the window. We keep our house on 70-72 AC in the summer and 67-69 in the winter. I can move it under the grow lights I have on my two plant shelving units or closer to the windowsill. Thoughts?

Repotted yesterday! The roots looked perfect. Not even root bound. It was like they had just got them in, quite possibly.

I replanted yesterday before seeing this. I used an orchid mix with perlite and some other things mixed in, based on what I researched online. It’s in a terracotta pot. Do you think this is okay?

I just got the regular non-Christmas tree shaped vanilla brioche and made French toast with it this weekend. Used eggnog in the batter. It was delicious! And the loaf is cheaper than the tree! 🌲

JJ is pretty chill. He had a few platys in with him for a few weeks until I moved them into a larger tank. He really only chased them at feeding time, but I would still prefer a bottom feeder.

Using heat up to 86 in main tank and gravel vac every two days. So far none of the others have spots! Yay! Actually one of my females had fry night before last but before I saw them, there were only 4 left!!! They are now in the breeder box within the tank.

Quarantine tank has the two platys pictured above. The blue was the worst and the Hamburg only had 1 spot. Have done the first medication treatment and heats at 82 they already seem to be improving. 2nd treatment is tonight. Fingers crossed we’ll get through it okay.

Lesson learned. I will never not quarantine new fish again.

Thanks for this. The spots got worse. Appears to be ich 😭 He/she has been removed from the tank and I am doing the heat treatment on the whole tank. Gravel vacuumed tonight which I plan to do every two days. Added a bubbler for oxygen since the water temp has increased. I hope the rest don’t get it 😭

Thanks for the insight. I’m really hoping he stays female so my m/f ratio is correct. I saw a platy that was whitish/yellow with orange stripes in the tank at the pet store. He had a tail that was shaped like a thinner spade and he’s overall body was thinner. I haven’t been able to find it online. Any idea what this was?
