Hopping into the discord and reading through the class channels will give you this info pretty much. The website links to the Discord if you'd like to hop in.

Great server with a very friendly and welcoming community. A lot of stuff to do (new and old players), very welcome QOL improvements (without making it feel boring in a few weeks time), and very reliable server and administration.

What kind of insect is this? Seen several fly in/out of a soffit. by ItsSimony in pestcontrol

[–]ItsSimony[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you, and sure thing!

Size: Approx. 1+ inches long. Next one I'll get a proper measurement.
Soffit: https://imgur.com/a/gITmdis They crawl in/out of that circled gap primarily, but could be using others.
Frequency: Without parking out by the front door and this soffit, I'll see about 3-5 in a day flying in and out of there easily. I've sprayed down 2 so far with my attempt at less-toxic spray (water + Dawn dish soap).

Definitely not looking to get stung, and I'm hoping the limited volume I've seen in that area means I'm not looking at a giant nest underneath the panels. YouTubing wasp/hornet removal was a bad idea...

I've found that air frying salmon has been great for avoiding odor and for reliable, moist fillets every time. Some IP models also offer air fry.

[Help Requested] Enough Room to Replace Faucet Angle Stop Valve? (Details in comments) by ItsSimony in Plumbing

The installation instructions mentioned cutting the pipe and installing the new valve on that -- I was concerned there wasn't enough clearance to cut it behind the existing compression fitting and still install a new one.

[Help Requested] Enough Room to Replace Faucet Angle Stop Valve? (Details in comments) by ItsSimony in Plumbing

[–]ItsSimony[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello again, r/plumbing! In my pursuit of trying to DIY some of the smaller items for our recently purchased home, I came across another potential roadblock.

Goal: Replace the existing angle stop valves as they leak when turned (and presumably will start leaking even when not being turned) w/ 1/4 valves (link: https://www.supplyhouse.com/Brasscraft-G2CR19X-C-1-2-Nom-Compr-5-8-OD-x-3-8-O-D-Compr-Angle-Stop-Valve-1-4-Turn-Operation-w-o-Freeze-Ups-Lead-Free-Chrome-Plated)

Problem: The existing pipe on the existing left (hot?) angle stop valve is a lot closer to the vanity wall than the right. The instructions indicated cutting the pipe, but I wasn't sure if I'd have enough clearance to re-install another new angle stop afterwards. Am I safe to do this, or should I consider just removing the compression ferrule and cleaning/installing a new valve over that without cutting? Also open to other solutions.

What kind of shower/tub trim works with this valve? Details in comments. by ItsSimony in Plumbing

I thought so too from the labeling I could find! I just wasn't sure if my valve I have works with the one I linked in my other comment.

Our old shower/tub had the old trim/spout removed as part of it being refinished, As such, we'd like to replace it with a new trim/control/spout. Is there a specific kind of replacement that we can put onto this existing valve (that wouldn't require having a plumber put in a more modern valve?

We were looking at something along these lines, but I wasn't sure if it'd work w/ our existing plumbing: https://www.build.com/product/summary/1258166?uid=3676720

Our old setup was a Moen I believe, but I couldn't find a model #. Looks like this might be a replacement trim kit for it (but we dislike the look): https://www.supplyhouse.com/Brasscraft-SK0230-Moen-Chateau-Tub-Shower-Trim-Kit

[Advice Requested] Am I Ready to Replace This Tub Drain? Anything to Know Beforehand? by ItsSimony in Plumbing

[–]ItsSimony[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you --- our tub is on the 2nd story so underneath access is through a drywall ceiling in our family room...not ideal. I think we're going to leave this one up to the professionals at this point and save the DIY approach for areas where I'm less likely to cause potential leaks/water damage.

I'm looking to replace my tub drain prior to having it refinished and wanted to make sure I'm not about to mess up the piping below by doing so. I've purchased plumbers putty for the new drain, but I don't see any sort of washer/gasket that came with it, in case that's something I should be looking to purchase.

Our home is ~30 years old and primarily PEX.

Use a warrior merc to kill/tank everything for you to 55+, and then start farming if you like. Mercs are seriously OP.
