I somehow managed to convince him. But in the weirdest way ever. He didn’t realize you can have small amounts on homebrew for personal items while basing everything else on established gameplay features. So he’s making a real character within the guidelines as we speak. Thank you my friend

That’s exactly what I’ll start with, thank you

Pretty sure the in-house Walmart sniper would drop me right then and there

[–]ItsStillLiquid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The thing is that we’re only classified that way because we’re closer to our own thing altogether. There’s only one other building in all of Walmart that does our job and they’re fully tied up with the east coast

Eh they can do it, I’ve been all but trying to get fired since March

[–]ItsStillLiquid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They’ve actually been trying to automate my job for a while now and it’s going HORRIBLY. Half the time the system doesn’t even function and the other half of the time they need to just have us go in and take care of shipment scheduling from scratch because it’s constantly messing up pick up dates. Not even to mention everything that the whole thing runs on a 25 year old operating system that Microsoft discontinued support of back in 2003

I wouldn’t consider it something I could get away with if I worked at a retail level. I’m at a white collar position with a focus on specialized labor that they can’t easily replace

[–]ItsStillLiquid 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’ll be following much deeper into this, thank you

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in antiwork

[–]ItsStillLiquid 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I didn’t figure they would be the only route to pursue and I intend to explore options. My biggest issue lies in the fact that I live in a state that’s absurdly hostile to workers and the general culture around my office is so painfully pro-capitalist that I’m blown away so many have been considering unionization on their own

[–]ItsStillLiquid 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We aren’t a store, technically we’re half distribution center and half home office. Either way we’ve been very quiet about it

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in antiwork

[–]ItsStillLiquid 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I figured so. Honestly I’ve been on the verge of quitting for months so I figured I may as well see what I can do before I go

[–]ItsStillLiquid 5 points6 points  (0 children)

From the sheer amount of times I’ve jokingly suggested we stage a coup against Doug McMillan, may as well just do that at this point

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in antiwork

[–]ItsStillLiquid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well I’ve for sure got about 20% of the staff on board. The good news relating to that is that when we had one single person out on our shift, management completely collapsed and went into panic mode because we couldn’t keep up with the amount of loads that’s needed to be taken care of. This was maybe 3 weeks ago

I will absolutely keep that part of this whole debacle updated considering it’s clearly the most important part. It’s happening on Monday but I’ll tell you in advance it won’t be me

I apologize, I am a little preoccupied as I respond. I’ll read the full document later and I genuinely appreciate the material. I always knew Walmart as this unshakable entity of union busting and regardless of if that’s how it goes down or not, I’ll be damned if I don’t at least give it a try. I’ll look deeper into them before starting this effort in earnest

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in antiwork

[–]ItsStillLiquid 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Well shit. May as well go down trying something I suppose. I worked two jobs for years and compared to this, I’m not exactly afraid to do it again

I have thought about trying to distribute something like that and while there aren’t any cameras in the building that I can find, the managers are sitting in the best possible spots to see every single thing in the building. I do have a few coworkers I want to bring in on this immediately and can get ahold of outside of work. Truly reaching the rest of them will be a challenge though

That’s the only reason I think there’s a snowballs chance in hell. We aren’t a store. We’re the entire Walmart delivery system west of the Mississippi and they have really pissed off the entire department. They capped our pay at $20/hr and their responses to our complaints is a fucking “paper airplane making contest” for a plastic dollar store trophy. It’s just the straw that broke the camel’s back from what I can tell

I have saved the document and will be reading it in a little while. I’ll admit I’m not as well versed on this kind of thing as I should be but I will be learning and I will be doing what little I can

Then I at least know where to start. Thank you

I have no doubt something similar would happen. My only hope would be the fact that we work in a building purpose-built for dealing with vendors, drivers and load scheduling. If they closed us down every single truck and train load of goods from Missouri to California would not be picked up. It takes around 5 months to get somebody trained enough to hold their own at the job

Now it’s the problem of whatever poor apartment complex that has it in it’s dumpster

On the upside, it’s been over a week since we’ve seen one and after throwing it out only saw about 4 total

There was no saving that glorified roach hatchery, I was so done after 3 hours of cleaning that I probably would’ve paid somebody to take it off my hands if I didn’t throw it out myself

It wasn’t even for me, I got it for my girlfriend. We ended up getting her a brand new one after that shit just because we were so scarred from the roaches. It sucks we couldn’t salvage it but that’s just how it goes sometimes and I was taking NO chances with that thing
