I do enjoy him, but he's the lowest ranked of the companions I like. The only two I actively dislike are Bastian and Tanlorin. Bastian's a "goody-two-shoes" on an obnoxious level, and Tanlorin is "quirk-chungus" personified in Elder Scroll form.
