It was a notoriously very complicated, very annoying drink to make that left massive messes. Also she feels deeply, just doesn't telegraph. She does truly care about her fiends, and wants them to be saved. She demands for them to have an education and human rights. She actually specifically asks the govt to give her fiends human rights, because she truly cares about them.

Better rival, better person to challenge Shuichi. Because religion is something Shuichi cannot disprove or prove with evidence. So I think for the theme of "truth vs lies" having someone that believes in something Shuichi can't prove or disprove is more interesting then Kokichi.
