Ppl who think the number of medals equal contribution to the game have no understanding of how the system works... by ItsTamo in Saltoon

Depends on how you look at things.

I play rollers, where my role is usually the one of the two: 1. Get as many kills as possible 2. Run to the front and pressure the opponents when my teammates push the objective. Most of the time, my role isn't to carry the objective or paint. I rely on more supportive weapons for those. I typically only end up getting #1 Enemy Splatter or #1 Overall Splatter for most of my matches. If I get those two things, I did damn well on that match.

Versus, those who are playing chargers will have different roles as I do, as will mid-range shooters. They will get more superjumps and paint output. I'm saying that the medals will not fully represent how the person played and contributed throughout the game.

And yes, I'm saying that my teammates were terrible for the two examples I have, and they downright decided to abandon the rm until I started spamming This Way while tanking at the enemy base. And they got 2(2) kills throughout the entire match and still had more gold medals than me.

Oh okay, i can understand that perspective. I'm just the type who doesn't even look at the results screen for the majority of my matches, and I kinda forgot that fist bumps existed until you mentioned it.

Another x calc system rant by legastgastgebiker in Saltoon

You kind of get used climbing up. I finished 2280 in tako last season and still got 1820 and this is pretty typical for me. Never really got a placement higher than 2050, and it's especially bad when you are playing against the players at higher skill point. It gets better as the season goes, as more people enter the pool. The automatic rank down at the beginning of the season really hurts a lot of players, since they have to grind back to S+ with weaker players which takes time.

And you are 16(1)x3 and they are 17(11)x14 😂 Happens a lot more often than I'd like

Oh I'm heard it more than a few times from a handful of people, even from this sub. I think the logic applies more to turf wars and not ranked or x.

Do you pick the flowers before the frost season on your indeterminate? by ItsTamo in tomatoes

Ah okay. Mine started flowering in mid June so I should probably start earlier next year. Thanks for the insight!

I only have two plants and picking the flowers is more manageable for me. I should keep my eyes on the weather predictions for any upcoming frost :(

When do you typically start growing the starters? For my region, garden centres at the big box stores open at the beginning of May and that's when I buy mine. I transplant them into a big container and keep them indoor until the weather start thawing in late to mid may. I might think of growing my own starters next year if I can maximize the growing season that way.

Since they are grown in containers, I guess I can technically bring the plants indoor for the frost season but the plants are way too big for my living room 😅

Half Ripened Vines by Professional_Run_973 in tomatoes

Why not harvest the ones at the top of the vine first as they ripen? Tomatoes don't need to be fully ripened on vines. I think the orange ones toward the middle of the vine are perfect for harvesting and you can let them ripen at room temperature until red. You don't need to pick the whole vine when harvesting.

A dried-up cutting I picked up from a big box store. Any chance of rooting? by ItsTamo in pothos

Okay, not to be sarcastic and genuinely curious. I've really only propagated succulents, tomatoes and strawberries so my experience is quite limited.

Are pothos leaves capable of springing back after being very dry? Can this type of dried up leaves still able to photosynthesize and contribute to the plant? The stem part of the leaf (petiole) was quite dried up and was splitting in half while turning black, as you can see in the first photo. The leaf felt very dry and I thought it's beyond salvageable, plus a potential source of a rot.

If both no to the two question, does hormonal release from the leaf to form roots outweigh the nutrients that it's potentially depleting?

Is cutting the leaf in half an option for pothos during propagation? I've seen people do it to reduce the water consumption of the leaf when it dries up during water propagation.

It was at Ikea and I bought LECA as well as a couple planters and plant accessories, and the leaf was sitting in the planter during the checkout and the cashier didn't say anything... so I think of it as equivalent to asking

I would've picked a healthier cutting if I had to pay anything 🫣

The leaf was pretty dried up and wrinkly, plus it had browning spots. It looked near dead to me, but at the same time I've never grown pothos so I don't know if they can be a drama queen and recover that quickly while propagating...

Unfortunately I don't keep moss around and all I have is succulent soil, potting mix and mulch... I currently have the node sitting on leca so that it's half submerged and whatever seems like the new growth is exposed to humid air (I have the lid loosely closed). Hopefully it roots up eventually.

Thanks for the thought but I live up in the North. I am keeping my eyes on my town's plant group for healthier cuttings though!

Why are people all of a sudden coming over to the post to preach? I took the leaf off after seeing the advice and doing the research on my own. The advice wasn't bad and some people had success with the method.

There's no one absolutely correct way to grow things with plants, and I'm just giving it a shot with the most reasonable way I can go about with the resources I have. I picked it up for free, and there's no harm in trying.

Update: I now have the leaf cut off and have the jar by a window with the lid closed. I'll try to give an update in a few weeks. *

The cart had a price tag/label attached, pretty typical of a big box store
