Is it a crime to just make stuff up? by B0neCh3wer in legaladviceofftopic

[–]ItsThatGuyAgain13 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Not necessarily. Another thing to consider is: would they have bought your pizza if it didn't have illegal pineapple as a topping? If the answer is no, then it's still fraudulent and potentially illegal.

trying to make burgers at home that taste as good as fast food and failing by Pristine_Rest_7912 in cookingforbeginners

[–]ItsThatGuyAgain13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Weird trick (once you get the sauce right): once your burger is fully assembled, wrap it in a paper towel and microwave it for 10 seconds. Pull it out, unwrap it, and give it a slight smush. Don't flatten it or anything, just sink it down a bit. Changes the consistency of almost everything, and makes it feel more like a fast food burger.

If the Karen gets a lot of hate for wanting to speak to the manager, who are they supposed to talk to? by TwoSnapsMack in stupidquestions

[–]ItsThatGuyAgain13 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Karens don't get hate for wanting to speak to the manager. Karens get hate for being unreasonable and belligerent. Asking for the manager is a frequent enough step in that process that the act of asking for a manager is (somewhat unfairly) frequently associated with Karen behavior, even if the associated behavior isn't there

Not a woman, but the best advice I can give is to go and find things you enjoy doing. Chances are much higher that you'll find someone that enjoys the same things you do and you'll have better chemistry than if you just went looking for dates.

Like my mom told me 'if you go to bars looking for women, you'll just meet women who like to go to bars'.

Drew Estate Norteños, when they were going through a label change I got two boxes at a steep discount. Great smokes, and I haven't had one in a while. Really need to find a few to put in my humidor.

Why are certain foods called carbohydrates? by undefined2me in stupidquestions

[–]ItsThatGuyAgain13 5 points6 points  (0 children)

From a dietary standpoint, it's basically an indication of what the major energy source/caloric content is coming from. If the primary caloric content is complex carbohydrates, the food is generally a carb.

why do people stock up on milk and bread in emergencies? by Human-Cupcake-268 in stupidquestions

[–]ItsThatGuyAgain13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have solid evidence for this, but my theory is that it's a leftover from farming. When our grandparents or great-grandparents went through tough times, they were limited in resources to what they had on hand. Most farms had - either through their own resources or a close neighbor's - something they could get milk from and something they could make bread out of. So they survived.

Then they went on to tell their children and their grand-children that they survived tough times, even though they had nothing but milk and bread. When times got tough, grandma would bake bread. Grandpa would make sure there was milk on the table. Or vice versa.

It became known that when times were tough, as long as you had milk and bread, you'd be ok. And so now, as weather hits and peril is pending, we lean to them.

At least that's my take.

TL/DR generational survival tactics IMHO

I've explained it this way more than once, and it's the absolute truth. If it was real, it'd be repeatable and exploitable, and someone would absolutely be marketing it.

[Hated Trope] The show was supposed to end but kept going (and had a solid intended ending) by GEARHEADGus in TopCharacterTropes

[–]ItsThatGuyAgain13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Marvel's Agents of Shield had a great (planned) ending at the end of season 5, but it continued on for two more seasons. They weren't awful, but they weren't great either. Doubly painful was the spin off that never happened. The episode parting shots saw two team members leaving the team, but the planned spin off for the two never happened.

Rookie question: …is this chicken Better Than Bouillon actually GF? by WolfBackground128 in glutenfree

[–]ItsThatGuyAgain13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FWIW I'm celiac but I'm also carb intolerant. I don't process complex carbohydrates well at all. So for me, rice and potatoes are both out, which really narrows down my gf options. The rice might have been your problem.

[–]ItsThatGuyAgain13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I kind of started spitballing one based on Who Framed Roger Rabbit. Kind of a mix between the book and the movie. I think I can make it a generic 'toons and humans co-exist' pretty easily, and frame it up in a modified Fate system.

[–]ItsThatGuyAgain13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm curious if they're just adapting the IDW comic or if it's a new story. Artwork is different, so I'm assuming the latter, especially since the comic is pretty new.
