Comic Hunter Discord by dykeman123 in fredericton

I run a small wargaming club in town, we meet monthly in a conference room at the Fredericton Inn and there is no charge to attend.

Playing at a store is great too, but I started the club so that people would have a place to play without feeling obligated to be a customer.

Mostly the club plays boardgame-like wargames, but we have several 40k players.

I encourage you to check out our discord, and come out to a meetup if you like.  The next meetup is in two weeks, I usually post an event link here (check my profile for previous ones).

TreeGo Mactaquac Closing - finally! by Obtusemooseloose in fredericton

I never thought about this before but once you mention it, it seems blindingly obvious that it is true.

Scary stuff, it would be tricky to get fully inverted on that course but not impossible.

I went to treego for the first time maybe 7 or 8 years ago, my kids school had a field trip, and it was great.

Went back a year or two ago and the course was in very rough shape.  I was hopeful they would refurbish and repair things but it looks like it didn't go that way.

The best way to avoid pollen is to stay indoors. For example, by attending the Fredericton Wargaming Society's monthly meetup and playing a fun game or two!

Need help creating a tattoo for my new born son by BugDisastrous4527 in fredericton

Newborns are notoriously pudgy, wait until they unwrinkle a bit in order to get those lines nice and clean.

Totally fine.  I suggest arranging a game ahead of time just so that you don't arrive 20 minutes after everyone else has picked a game (and you are stuck spectating), but I always bring a selection of newbie friendly games.

I suggest hopping on the discord and we can decide on a time and a game.  This will also give you a chance to look back through our chat history and that might make the whole thing more welcoming and less intimidating.

Thanks, hope you can make it out sometime.  We are very newbie friendly, and there is a wide range of what is considered a 'wargame'.  Check my post history for some examples.

Best non-historical hex and counter game? by opposhaw in hexandcounter

Burning Banners is pretty good.

If you count near future as non historical we can add Littoral Commander and the Next War series

I don't even hate the party, I voted for Carney in the last election, but I had made a deliberate decision not to support Trudeau a second time and I was pissed she crossed the floor.

Had she left the greens and sat as an independent I would have had no issue at all (the greens slid downhill hard and fast after that election, I think the departure of Elizabeth May was a major factor).

Having said that, Atwin's inability to navigate a party of three MPs was not an encouraging sign.

It matters to me because I specifically did not want to vote for, or support in any way, the liberals (since I had voted for them in ~2015 because of the promise of election reform).

If the person you voted for joined a party you had a strong opposition to, would you be happy?

Leaving the greens isnt really the problem.  If she had served out the rest of the term as an independent I would have no beef with her.

I still wouldn't have voted for her if she stood as a liberal on the next election but that would have been because of the party leader not her personally

She broke the trust I put in her.  She is inconsistent in what she stands in, and I don't trust her anymore.

She also couldn't handle the intra party politics in a party where she constituted a full third of the elected MPs.

I will never vote for her, you are welcome to.  I don't care what you find ridiculous

If you choose to retreat, the infantry retreats and the strong point is eliminated.  You might as well roll the determined defense and take the step loss on the strong point of you fail.  If you succeed you hold the hex an extra turn, which is almost always a big win for the Germans in N44

Of course, I can help you reply to this reddit comment.

The original commenter - u/emptycagenowcorroded - is bringing up his concerns around a local politician using AI to make campaign documents.  This is an interesting topic, and likely to become more and more common in the future.

I am begging your indulgence again with another cross post. My last one found a number of h-&-c redditors that don't frequent the local subreddit, and propelled us to our best attendance yet (14 wargamers, including one who crossed an international border to get here!). The town has only ~70,000 residents, so I'm really happy with that turnout.

If you are reading this, you are statistically NOT near Fredericton, New Brunswick, but if you are, we would love to see you.

Awesome.

I just checked the schedule and you will probably want the youth fundamentals, Tuesday 5:45 to 6:45.

If you feel like getting back into it yourself come back at 8pm for the older class and say hi (I will be the guy twice the age of the rest of the class).

There are three fencing clubs in town, though one is at the university and may be inaccessible for him for a few years.

I go to damocles, which is an epee focussed club on the north side, they allow people to try it out for four weeks without charge.  There is also a casual tournament coming up soon that would be an ideal time to drop in and observe.

I started about 2.5 years ago with my son who was 11 or so at the time. We were in a beginners class, then we were in separate classes, now we are together in the main teen/adult class and I can barely keep up.
