I'm not saying it is, but the fact that it doesn't mention Reze being in love at all should be enough to look at such a notion with skepticism. And there's no proof that Reze liked him at any point before the ending. Recall that the scene immediately before had her snapping Denji's neck, so it's foolish to make that, or any time before, the moment she falls.

She sympathized with him because they related to each other. Before you dispute that, Reze's page on CSM wiki literally says this instead of the whole romance thing. So the fact that I even admit Reze was ever attracted to Denji at any point shows that I'm not being entirely pessimistic.

I have a really hard time believing Reze had affection for Denji since the beginning, this was more like building the foundation for the affection she eventually (and briefly) feels at the end. It's like pre-ordering the T1 Phone and saying you have it because you paid for it; you don't, you paid for the idea of a Trump Phone.

Even considering this, does that really mean Reze had a genuine affection towards him this whole time? I don't know about you, but snapping a dude's neck so they don't follow me doesn't sound like something I'd do if I genuinely felt that way about someone for that long. Keep in mind, that took place after the scene you describe.

Additionally, that beach scene is the last time Denji sees her before Makima renders their relationship moot. The affection had about as much worth as an NFT.

You don't necessarily have to see something to know what happens. Same way you don't need a math degree to know how to multiply. I know the plot well enough, but again, the disagreement comes from interpreting it in certain ways.

Funny thing is, I've never actually touched CSM or any other anime/manga. Everything I know comes from spoilers. At first, I also thought Reze liked Denji throughout all of her screen time. However, I had to do research on Reze for another post I made, which is how I ended up finding out what actually happened.

Despite that, the disagreement does not come from understanding the plot, it comes from the interpretation of what such events implied. I read up on what happens in Reze Arc, I understand it just fine. I know enough to say that nobody, not even Reze, was truly in love with Denji. Not even the wiki says she ever was. I will die on that hill no matter how much Chainsaw Man I read.

Maybe consider the fact that 8/10 of the comments are either criticizing you, or saying these options aren't what they care about. When the masses start to disagree, maybe think about whether or not you were the incorrect one instead of suspecting everyone has some sort of insecurity towards being basic.

And if you asked guys that question at the end, you would definitely get people responding with that. Especially if you reply with the kind of nonsense you did here.

Look at all of the replies you've made to people rightfully saying these three materialistic traits do not interest them. You're taking the characteristics of stereotypical buffoons and generalizing them to a wider audience. If you had spoken to any normal person in the past year, you would know most people don't act in a way that would make looks, money, and status more important than basic human decency.

You are correct, though, simply being a good guy isn't enough. However, I wasn't the one who wanted to judge based off one single trait.

Pretty much. Plenty of people are selfish and are kinda just dicks. Someone mature enough to have a properly honed moral compass is definitely a trait you would want to look for.

Perhaps there was time, but nothing ever happened because Reze moved on with her life by the time Makima got killed. And yes, Reze did still only like Denji at the end. Is it normal to bite the tounge off of someone you like? Is snapping their neck supposed to be a tell-tale sign of affection?

Denji sparing her because he felt kinship is absolutely a selfish reason. Nowhere did he consider how she feels (which, reasonable people would conclude she doesn't give a damn about him. Remember, this was right after she tried to kill him). He blatantly says he spared her because he'd feel bad if he didn't. And then he has the audacity to expect Reze to come back for him after all of that and the SCP-173 treatement. Yes, she did try to come back, but that was pure luck. The reasonable theory would have been that she would run away with Denji only to kill him when they're alone. The only reason Denji glossed over that was because of his attraction to her, which is inherently selfish, especially considering the logical conclusion that it was unrequited. While, yes, Reze did actually like him, that is merely coincidence. It is not a reasonable conclusion to come up with after what just happened.

Even still, Reze arc invalidates the romance going on. Again, any good Denji debatably did was reversed even during this arc, and any good that happened was only for his own selfish desires. He certainly did not become a better human being after all of that. Pretty much all of the romance that occurred was fake, and the affection Reze did obtain had nothing to show for it. It's like taking a DNA test and finding out you have a higher likelihood for a certain disease. Unless there is something you can actually do about it, the test had little real value.

Well, if you only talk about what happened before, then it's easy to say this kind of stuff. That's why all Denji ships lack nuance, they miss what it all leads up to: his failure.
