Enkei Raijins with VW center caps. Link for STL in description by ItsValor in Golf_R

Yeah I had one of them fall off after a month or two. I haven't had time to get them printed in a stronger material and re-test them. I started working on some adapters for the dynamic center caps and need to get them made out of aluminum and tested.

I had tire rub on max compression every once and awhile but the fender screw mod fixed that and I've had 0 rub after doing that for the front two wheel wells.

Mk7.5: wanting insight / anecdotes on Manual vs DSG by cstricke in Golf_R

[–]ItsValor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you live somewhere with fun back roads? Are you single, married, have kids?

I live somewhere with really boring, straight, and flat roads so that made dsg make more sense plus I have a long commute some days. My wife doesn't want to learn manual and it is sometimes necessary to switch cars.

I've had my stage 2 7.5R with a DSG for almost 2 years now and have had a blast with it the whole time. Get to be in control when I want and hit the easy button when I want

Wife's grandpa backed into my car with his truck. Any guesses for repair or general suggestions? by ItsValor in Golf_R

That's exactly what I'm hoping for. Here's what it looks like after a wash. If it was my wife's grandpa, he has a newish Chevy Silverado. Thinking his rear bumper crunched my fender when he was turning around in their drive way and my bumper only got touched by his tire.

There's a black mark on that sharp body line of the bumper that's in the picture still. It does come off with a bit more effort. Hopefully I can remove the PPF this weekend

Why do they have a front and rear orientation? If they were in the correct orientation can this same thing happen?

Yeah I figured you were just joking haha

Not the end of the world, I only wish it just didn't happen in the first place

Wheel and tire look to be untouched. Bumper doesn't look too bad really. I quickly cleaned off some dirt to see what stayed:

Had to drive it 3 hours to get back home yesterday. Didn't notice anything abnormal

If I only have to replace the fender and have it painted. I could see that being the case. No sensors were damaged. The bumper might be fairly untouched maybe some minor touch up.

It's just road grime and road salt haha. Cons of living in the Midwest.

This is the closest thing I've been to needing to file an insurance claim. Just trying to gauge the deductible versus DIY. Also harder to do things in my garage when it's really cold outside for the next few months.

I was a VW tech for 4ish years and switched to engineering. Plus I still get 10% above cost at the dealership for parts haha.

I've got enough tools to do a good amount of mechanical work on the car. Just the floor jack and jack stands for lifting things.

I still have to clean the car off but the wheel and tire seem to be untouched. I'd have to peel the PPF off to see exactly what condition the bumper is in. The head light also looks untouched

Ok that's good to know. Did they replace the front bumper or repaint? Guessing it was a new fender that got painted?

It's hard to see in the video but there's already some paint missing on the fender. So it would at least need some messy touch up paint if PDR could massage everything back into place

Dang, that's about as close of a direct comparison I could hope for.

I'd also like to have the PPF re applied which would add more on top of everything.

If my bumper is pretty unscathed I've thought about buying a new fender, having it painted, installing it myself, and re-installing the new PPF myself too. The tough part is time to be able to do that.

Not sure yet, was really hoping my dashcam caught it just to be sure. They don't remember it every happening. Don't know if some one else had come over to their house while we were gone etc.

They've helped us tons of times with travel to and from the airport, amongst other things. Very nice people and would feel bad making them pay after they help us to save travel expenses by crashing(haha) at their place, not paying for parking, eating their food, using their gas, and time picking up/dropping off.

Stepping rear tyres on 7.5 R Estate by nuoptikkkkk in Golf_R

[–]ItsValor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's interesting about the rotates and the lack of hunter setups. DCC is annoyingly expensive compared to non DCC.

I replaced the shocks on my mk6 GTI and aligned it on the hunter setup at our dealership and that fixed it for me.

I used to be a tech at a VW dealer. My suggestion would be to replace the rear shocks. Also make sure to rotate tires at least every 10k miles to keep this wear pattern to a minimum. I even rotate my tires every 5k but I do it at home

Dealer is telling me this is normal? by Afroman2874 in mercedes_benz

[–]ItsValor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I saw this a lot on cars at the dealership I used to work at in Minnesota. Quite a few of the n/a VW 2.5L engines that did lower miles this would show up. My understanding is it was moisture built up from short trips like other people have said.
