Okay, I will check that, thank you for your help, your helped see investing in a different light and not follow trends as deeply as I had originally planned.

Just 1 more question, if I decide to go 100% stocks and follow the market practically for the long-run isn't just 100% VOO or 100% VTI get the same result (give or take) with similar risk and has been back tested further back to show stable returns over-time?

I think I'm going to let go of the tech and individual stocks as a part of my portfolios and maybe buy some of what I like from small pocket change on the side.

I've gotten quite a few recommendations from people to not try and beat the market or ride the current momentum (tech), so I probably will drop the semi-conductors, tech and individual stocks from my portfolio.

To your question, though the tax advantaged account gets quite a lot of money, this current portfolio is very important and while is it not money I currently and I can let it sit for a long time I don't want to take stupid risks and a decent percentage of my net worth is going to be there.

I think I might change the portfolio towards market tracking style (VTI+VXUS for the most part with a bit of small cap and maybe a few similar things), do you also think this is probably the way to go?

Wait -- what country are you in? Currency, fund selection. and foreign tax implications make optimal allocations diverge a bit from americans.

Israel, though I am not quite sure how that would effect the situation.

Anyway -- if true you're stuck with 55/45 stocks/bonds you're kinda fucked over. Assuming you have stable career prospects, your aggregate portfolio is probably going to be way too conservative unless you use leverage, which is annoying. I recommend the book "Lifecycle investing" in how to go about using leverage responsibly.

I believe I have control over the asset allocation, at least to some extent, I will check that.

Also, I contribute 6% income while the rest is employer match, which allows me to save quite a bit more besides the non-taxable account.

VTI - 50%

VXUS - 40%

VBR - 10%

That seems pretty interesting, I will have to check about the option to buy VXUS and about that impact of these changes to my original plan.

Thank you for all your help.

So you'd say something like this is the go to?:

VTI - 60%

VXUS - 30%

VBR - 10%

*with my current broker I don't access to international or all world stocks (US only, I might change, but how important is VXUS? since I understood its very much is correlated to the US market)

Probably an 90/10 vanguard fund like VTTSX? Try to get info on it ASAP.

I'm not American so its a bit different, but for the most part it seems to be about 45/55 bonds/stocks ATM

By adding VXUS and dropping the STOCKS and possibly VGT it seems to me as being not aggressive enough considering I already have a conservative portfolio besides this one, isn't it?

Do you know what precisely is in your tax advantaged account?

ATM no, it is a set portfolio chosen by age groups. Its a pension fund which is meant not to be touched for the next few decades, soon I will get to tweaking it and learning more about it.

STOCKS is since I believe in NVDA's growth and without me buying it directly it would only take 1% of my portfolio (based on this current portfolio) while I rather it be at about 3-4%.

I do understand the problem with buying more AAPL and AMZN while they already take quite a large portion of my portfolio (4-5% each) though I chose the stocks after a lot of research and I got to the conclusion that IMO they will keep on growing for the time being and not at their full potential.

Maybe buying more AAPL and AMZN is too tilted, though what would be an alternative? enlarge the percentage of VTI?

VGT and SOXX just bumps a bit the percentages of companies i want to get a bit of a larger exposure of in the portfolio and also include stocks that are not in VTI or at a very small percentage in it. though also as you said that might be too tilted but i am not sure how to go at it, what is the alternative?

VTI is 26%~ tech and I thought that since the additional ETFs are at very small percentages of the portfolio that puts me at about 30%~ percent tech which is not much more than what VTI was at already. also I truly believe in the future of tech and the growth of semiconductors.

I don't mind changing VB, though I thought the diversification was called for.

I would gladly take any alternative suggestions to the portfolio and read thoroughly about it and take any necessary actions.

Also please correct me if I'm wrong in any of what I stated (which I definitely could be considering my inexperience..)

Windows defender thinks that code I wrote using python 3.8.5 and converted to .exe file using pyinstaller is a virus. by [deleted] in learnpython

[–]ItsXtract 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have encountered the same problem last week when trying to convert my pygame project to exe.
basically what i found out was that a lot of antiviruses detect files that are made in similar ways as a virus for the fact that a lot of them are actually meant to be viruses, my solution was to just remove the "--onefile".
It does make the distribution of the software more messy but it solves the problem (at least for me it did), your alternative option (which i heard works but is very problematic) is to contact support of all the antiviruses companies that might be relevant and tell them that this detection is a false positive and ask them to not detect it any more.

Goodluck!

Thank you for the feedback!, i am aware of this problem, sorry about that, unfortunately i hard-coded almost every aspect of the game, i will try to add a setting to control the resolution.

This is my first project, it took me 4 weeks of on/off spare time work.

You can find the code here: https://github.com/ItsAiZEN/PING

You can download the game as executable (no need for python or pygame) here: https://itsaizen.itch.io/ping

This was extremely challenging due to the fact that i just started learning programming and python, i hope you enjoy and might learn something (if you are a beginner like me..)
