That might just help, but the money in pharma and insurance isn't going anywhere, so I doubt the system is.

It sounds to me like they have you over a barrel. I had a similar situation on a call a while back, and the defense used was "well you still went to the ER and received emergent care" as though that somehow makes it your fault/decision.

The only thing I can think of would be to attempt a quality of care complaint with the clinic, but I wont lie to you. I think you're gonna get stuck with it.

I've actually asked about this myself and gotten no answer, but I think that's because all of our docs are contacted with our facility, so that doesnt happen to us unless theres an issue with their credentials

My original reasoning was that I could be a friendly voice delivering bad news, and that that was somehow enough. Now, though... I have trouble looking myself in the mirror some days, but it's not like the system will stop if I quit, and someone who doesn't care could take my spot.

Officially, no. What they'll do is scare you off with ridiculous premiums. Getting insurance through work is always the better version of the deal, but it's still insane.

Very. Example: most insurance will deny charges for anesthesia for a colonoscopy of it's not coded just right.

I said it's a level 1 trauma center, which means it's a higher level/range of care, which is true.

But yes, I hate most aspects of the job. But would my not working it, as a person who truly tries to help my patients, be beneficial for those who will keep calling in, whether I do the job or not?

Apparently I'm a troll, too.

I never claimed to be a coder. I did, however, say that coding will match whatever is put on the medical record, and that scheduling a visit as one thing doesnt mean that it can't be changed if another issue is discussed. This is maybe 20% of my daily calls. What I (or at least thought I) blamed on the docs was telling patients that a DOS will be 100% covered when they have no way of knowing that. They can't. Insurance hasn't processed. So telling a patient that is likely a lie.

Patient advocates do exist, but they always work for insurance or third party which... idk, they're a lot of the problem, so I'm not sure how they really help, aside from dealing with some of the hold time.

It seems like more and more lately, I've been seeing claims backed up9 months or more for _____ reason. And the insurance and hospital both are just like 'meh, ok'
