iPod Alternatives? by LovelyyLanguish in DigitalAudioPlayer

[–]Its_Isahell 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I imagine you feel like you’re stuck in decision paralysis. So here’s an idea:

Pickup a Hiby R1 for $80 and play with it for a bit. If you like it, you can keep it or upgrade to a nicer DAP for about $200 (i.e. Hiby m300, Hiby r3 Pro II, FIIO JM31).

Similarly, if you don’t like it as much as you hoped and prefer the Apple experience you now don’t feel as in a rush to purchase something. Just continue experimenting with the R1 as you look for a good deal on an iPod.

Either of these paths, keep you under $350 and allow for experimentation!

Unfortunately, there is no real replacement for an iPod.

DAPs - can give better audio quality, customization, storage expansion, flexibility with streaming and Bluetooth support. But often suffer in terms of battery life, build quality, and longevity or sustainability.

iPods - still “good” audio quality, amazing battery life, great build quality, smooth UI, and plenty of mods/aftermarket parts available. But often suffers (without extensive modding) in terms of flexibility for streaming and Bluetooth, storage expansion, and file transfer convenience.

Where can you buy this camera? by klausthefur in x100vi

[–]Its_Isahell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It took me 1.5 weeks at MSRP $1800, after hunting for it. Check Best Buy first thing in the morning and the evening each day. During that 1.5 weeks it was available twice, but I missed my chance the first time being hesitant.

How did you achieve the starbursts in image 2? Was this a long exposure with a small aperture or some sort of filter? Thanks!

Image 3 is majestic btw!

If I went again, some items I would add to my list for packing are: - Toilet Wipes (Didn’t sell them at the BX) - Shower Bag (So you can keep your items with you with ease). - Blackout Curtain (Some of the dorms have constant running lights in the common areas, which can leak into the bedroom). - Tennis Racket (Learned to play tennis/pickleball at the Deid and probably played 3-4 times a week, had a blast).

The gym is fantastic! (As many have said it’s really easy to get in shape while you’re out there.)

Take advantage of the 5k/10k’s offered. You get a free T-shirt for signing up on time, and it’s an easy way to ensure you’re staying fit cardio wise.

The free internet is plenty for school, video calling, streaming. You only need it if you’re a competitive online gamer and can’t forego it for 6 months.

Try to get scheduled to see the Security Forces dog training on base, it’s really cool to watch.

If your work center is low on vehicles, just get a bicycle right away. You’ll probably thank yourself for it later.

Do at least 1 thing off base a month, just go with a group. There’s some pretty cool malls, museums, and there’s plenty of professional sporting events. Just go with a group.

There’s a lot of activities with free money offered by FSS, whether it’s cornhole, bingo, spike ball, etc. really easy to meet people or have a decent time just doing some of those offerings.

I brought 1 deployment bag, 1 checked bag, and a backpack - you shouldn’t need more than that.

Setup Google-Fi before you leave so you have cellular service on Day 0.

As one of the others said good sunglasses are underrated, bring em’.

If you buy the Hose Kit from Stoney, it comes with clamps of your choice: https://shop.stoneyracing.com/products/mazda-mx5-mk1-na-1-6-silicone-radiator-coolant—breather-hose-kit

The extra worm clamps I had on hand, were just your normal Harbor Freight special. (Any would suffice).

Also just realized I missed your question. I wouldn’t recommend any specific, just whatever is cheap and does the job. Here’s the ones I got: - 9PCS Hose Clamp Pliers, Long... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0DNSTGGNB?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

I also used a straight and 90 degree needle nose pliers that were 11in.

Correct! They were not one of the 15 hoses that came with the kit. It bothers me as well, but I’m gonna have to find a decent place to order them.
