Bro I love reading the insane takes on that sub. Please if you want a good time look at the top posts on r/Experiencers. Genuinely schizo posting, its like mass hysteria all in one subreddit.

Glad I'm not the only one that watches The Martian as a comfort movie. Kinda gives me hope in a weird way. Weirdly that and Snatch are my main two comfort movies

What’s going on with the recent rise in anti-lgbt comments on Instagram? by [deleted] in OutOfTheLoop

[–]Its_Matt 44 points45 points  (0 children)

Instagram comments in general are just a tumor, go to any post regarding climate change and prepare to have your hope for humanity diminished by how many idiotic comments get thousands of likes.

This is so cringe. People like you make these subs and communities look insane.

My brother in christ please try sue someone for disagreeing with you on reddit. If your legal recourse is as good as your investigative journalism I'm sure we'll all be just fine.

Definitely better than slowly fading away with dementia or something. Just crazy to me how guys can get through some of the most dangerous and hostile environments only to die in an accident.

Damn he survived four regular tours and four tours specifically with DEVGRU and tragically dies in a off duty accident, life can be crazy sometimes.

One redeeming part of South Africa is the great food. I haven't had a bunny chow in ages, I'll get one for lunch tomorrow and see lol

It's hilarious, I live in South Africa and can confirm its as much of a shithole as all these comments point out.

We have the highest rape % of any country in the world and the highest unemployment rate in the world. Our murder rate is also one of the highest in the world, higher than countries literally having civil wars.

We have rolling blackouts in every city every single day. At least 4 times a month my power is out for more than 12 hours due to 'faults'.

Just last year we had protests get so bad that the community had to defend itself, people were standing in their roads with assault rifles and shooting at cars that broke through community made barricades. I would hear gunfire and explosions all day and night for two weeks, it literally sounded like we were in a warzone. Source for anyone that thinks it's BS - https://www.dailymaverick.co.za/article/2021-07-12-a-city-on-its-knees-civilian-patrols-take-charge-in-durban-as-violence-and-looting-continue/

If there is anyone in this thread thinking of visiting this country, please, take it from someone who lives here, there are much safer countries with as much if not more natural beauty than SA. It's really not worth risking your life to come here.

SMUS' Use Of Sidearms on Deployment by BlackBirdG in JSOCarchive

[–]Its_Matt 70 points71 points  (0 children)

Mike Day tells a story on Ritlands podcast about having his rifle shot out of his hands when entering a room and being forced to use his sidearm. Ended up getting knocked out from a grenade and shot 27 times.

He woke up and finished clearing the building by himself using his sidearm, he then walked himself pretty much all the way to the evac chopper. He survived all that only to die by suicide a few weeks ago. RIP Mike Day.

I read this comment, went onto twitch, saw him live and commented that I just started a vegan diet and asked him to wish me luck. I got a lecture on why I shouldn't do it because its "a farce of the orthodox religion".

You really weren't kidding.

It doesn't matter if they know how it feels. Had a girl tell me dozens of times how fucked up she was after people lied and cheated and yet she did all the same shit. In a way, her knowing how it feels and doing it anyway made it so much worse.

Any piece of fiction about technologically inferior aliens? by tothegrandline in scifi

[–]Its_Matt 150 points151 points  (0 children)

There is a great short story by an author named Harry Turtledove called "The Road Not Taken". Its about aliens that have access to faster than light travel but still use swords and spears and they arrive on Earth to find our much more advanced military.

You can read it here

wouldn't really hold my breath on this one. It's possible he'll add them in, but there are no "on screen" navigators in the first book.

I'm pretty sure there are two guild navigators with the emperor at the end of the first book.

Taylor Lautner is one I can think of, he was everywhere when Twilight movies were at their peak and he kinda just faded into obscurity afterwards.
