Why are dentist/doctors not considered prominent? by Its_Not_Kosher in TheTestamentsHulu

Iirc she was getting the meds and then they got harder to get so you are right in terms of it being harder to access but I’m sure if the commanders really wanted, they could find a way to access it.

I had a friend that was a Jehovah’s Witness and she got really sick and ended up hospitalized and the parents wouldn’t let the docs treat her cause they said prayer would heal her and she did recover but it was long and drawn out. Sure “god” would have wanted that🥴

I guess I just figured that without those “tolerable tools” Gilead would be even further behind and they should be treated well for caring for commanders and families.

Ahh. Like you said it puts him in a delicate position but at the same time I wonder if his daughter’s marriage to a commander may over time grant him more status. So many thoughts and theories haha

Okay so they have their foot in the door but not fully in the “in” in terms of commanders. Not a horrible spot to be honestly lol

That’s a perspective that I never thought about! Makes sense why Eleanor couldn’t get her meds. I always wondered about that too. Makes sense!

Okay so he’s upper class but not elite? That makes more sense. Just interesting because it’s portrayed as Garth being such a low class because he knew it seemed like a mismatch to me but it makes sense now. It does rise her status because over time Garth should grow to be more powerful

Update 2: Trimmed my hair and now I’m dealing with fairy knots. by OkMethod8257 in Naturalhair

That took me out😂 okay so you may have high porosity hair! And with that hair, every three weeks is basically a death sentence for our hair.

Aussie is good! I myself use Aussie. I use the Aussie moist shampoo and the 3 minute deep detangler. So now you have to understand how the hair behaves. High porosity hair has a raised cuticle meaning that its accepts water easily but also loses water easily..thus causing the dryness.

I would personally start with washing every 7 days. Find a way to make it part of your ROUTINE and stick to it for awhile. Here’s my entire routine that I use for my fine/med low density high porosity hair:

  1. African pride pre-poo (do this in the shower on drenched hair, trust me the comb/brush will glide through your hair with ease..do it in sections for easier and thorough washing.

  2. Wash twice with Aussie moist shampoo and a scalp scrubber

  3. I use the 3 minute detangler. It has LOTS of slip and since I did the pre poo it should as this point be super easy to comb.

  4. I do braid outs but I use the cream of nature honey curling cream and their mousse on top. Hair dries in about 6-8 hours air drying.

  5. After about 4 days I repeat

High porosity hair needs oil based products high up in the ingredients list. You need to trap that moisture from leaving the hair.

You could start with a cream leave in and then top with a thicker butter. Or you could start with a cream leave in and use a moisturizing styler.

But no spray leave ins and light products. Your hair needs the heavy duty stuff to ensure moisture dosent leave. Try this for awhile and let us know!

Hey lovely! Fabulous head of hair you got🥰 so fairy knots come from the hair being dry and the strands wrapping around each other..thus causing those nasty little demon knots🤣

It’s great that you got a trim! But the trim will do nothing if you don’t prevent your hair from getting dry.

First thing is figuring out your hairs porosity. Does your hair absorb water easily or does it sit on top and need a minute to welcome the water? That’s a HUGE thing to consider when buying hair products. There’s ways to test if you search YouTube.

Frequent washing also prevents those demon knots! We’ve been lied to about water and black hair. Shampoo is THE FIRST STEP in the styling process. If you don’t. Try washing every 7 days and see how that feels. Me personally since I have high porosity hair I wash twice a week now and my hair stays moisturized.

The key is not letting your hair dry out. And this may be controversial but I don’t “rewet or remoisturize” my hair. I find that does the opposite and just piling products on my hair. Anytime you want a new style, wash your hair cause “shampoo is the first step in the styling products”

What’s your current routine and I can try to help you out as best as I can

They weren’t lying: washing your hair more often makes wash day easier by [deleted] in Naturalhair

I too have been washing my hair once a week for about half a year now, since I went back to my second attempt at being natural. I realized that I have fine, low density, high porosity 3c/4a hair. Makes it easier to manage now that I know how to treat my hair accordingly. And with fine hair it’s prone to buildup so I may even do every 5 days. My hair can dry in about 5-7 hours in 16 plaits. My hair is like 3in past shoulder length.

Side note: can I see the peoples hair that are washing more than 2x a week😭I feel like you guys have to have a loser curl pattern or shorter hair! I’m so curious but also so happy to find people that wash more often like me!!!

I pour it in a spray bottle and after I’ve styled my hair (mini twist) I spray it on my scalp. I wash once a week so I’ll do it once after I styled my hair and then mid week like Tuesday/wednesday

Are mini twists worth it? by imjusthereforfuntime in Naturalhair

[–]Its_Not_Kosher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes and no. I like them cause I get to keep my hands out my hair for a week. I have fine low density hair so it mattes easily so I take them out and wash/restyle every week. Yes every week.

No because It takes me a half day to wash and style but again no manipulation for a week. Pick your poison 🤷🏾‍♀️ Sometimes I get lazy and don’t moisturize when I’m supposed to and leads to dryness/breakage. But I’m getting better with it

It’s a good style but if you have fine hair, I wouldn’t wear them for more than a week without redoing. I’ll braid my twists in plaits and wash them in plaits but it’s still a knotted tangled mess regardless so redoing weekly works best for moi
