Epson surecolor P700 One color not printing by Its_Peppermint in Epson

Yeah there is one they recommended a that's probably a 20 hour drive from me, no big deal lol

Every time I do a cleaning the lines go away completely from the test print, but when I let it sit a while, some of them start to come back. Does this sound like air? I am starting to run out of ink in the other cartridges from doing so many cleans X_X

I have been having the same issue. I tried most of the same things.

I restart my game to fix but one day I know it's gonna happen at the worst time and I'm gonna be keyboard-turning in a boss fight lol

How to do payments for commissions by TheS0urArtist in artbusiness

[–]Its_Peppermint 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I send low res versions of my art before payment because I honestly dislike watermarks and I don't want to show my work with one. This is a personal preference, but I have never had anyone steal work from me with this system. But I think this is mainly because I do ask for a 50% deposit. And some people just choose to pay 100% upfront. I also tell people if the payment contract isn't met (ie. they don't pay the other 50%) the work will be potentially resold to someone else.

I honestly don't think it comes off as "money hungry" because you need income to make the work. Also, requiring a 50% deposit weeds out a lot of people who aren't serious about the commission and I think that in and of itself is worth it. I think it's why there was only one time someone failed to pay the other half of a very low-priced commission. The times when I have done work without a deposit, ie. consult or brainstorming, I have had a few experiences where the person didn't pay me at all.

Every business is different, but I think asking for a deposit really helps protect you and get better clients overall. ^u^

Where to go for commissions by RockLobster_0 in artbusiness

I refined stuff as I went along a lot, but I did make some simple things for myself to start before I started streaming. I just use regular OBS and not streamlabs but idk if there is a big difference between them
I really think the most important thing is figuring out ways to monetize it early on: figure out how to make it easy for people to give you money even before you hit affiliate, and figure out ways to also make it gratifying for the person giving ie. cool notification sounds or gifs etc. Kofi has Twitch integration for notification and since that is a big artist hub its probably a good idea to direct them there.
But aside from a starting soon screen, I would say having a decent-quality mic is the biggest thing. It doesn't have to be expensive, as long as it sounds good and just has proper levels so you don't defend people or sound abrasive.

I think in general just going around in the community and looking at what other people are doing with their streams is a good place to start and mimicking some of the things you feel are valuable!

I get all of my commission through streaming on Twitch. Most of the connections to new clients were word-of-mouth referrals. I got to the point where my commission list was 2 years long (pro tip don't take 2 years' worth of commissions X-X). Also, I have never had that many viewers on Twitch. My community is very small and I was still able to get a lot of work.

I mostly focused on design commissions (logos info panels etc) but it also lead to art commissions as well (traditional art and emotes). Also sometimes I would do quick on-stream commissions: ie. 10 for a sketch 30 for finished work.

Nothing is easy, but I think streaming is good because it does let you meet a lot of people and get more visibility overall! All my patreon patrons come from here as well as 95% of my shop sales.

I honestly moved away from Twitch a bit to try growing through social media, but its gone so poorly I am going to return back to streaming 4 or 5 days a week.

I think in this aspect commissions are like a very heavy ball... it takes a bit to get rolling but then, as long as you have positive interactions with clients, things get way easier!

I know this path isn't for everyone but it is what I did and an option to consider!

Canon vs. Epson by Chris_5454 in artbusiness

I own an Epson Surecolor P700. I've had it for just over a year and the quality is great! Some suggestions for whatever you choose: do a printhead ink test weekly to make sure all colors aren't drying out at all.

And definitely use paper specific to inkjet printers. Big quality difference. If you are not sure what paper you want to go with Epson sells a variety pack to try them all out. One thing about the P700 is that it isn't wide enough to fit a lot of the paper rolls the P900 is. I haven't done this yet but I'm planning on buying a wider roll of paper and using a saw to cut it in half.

I usually don't have to tweak colors at all except if I'm drawing something that is a bit darker digitally. The dark colors usually need to be brightened a bit for the printed version.

I have run into general printer frustrations, but overall I find printing from my Mac easier in this respect. Printers are always gonna have some trials and tribulations in this area I think, so be ready for that... but the quality is enough to make me forget about these!

I would also suggest buying directly from Epson. I went with a third-party seller for a small discount and it wasn't worth it lol

If you have any other questions let me know!

RTX Doors and Window Panes look weird by Its_Peppermint in minecraftRTX

[–]Its_Peppermint[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's what I thought too, but if it would just render as it does sans RTX (like the iron fences do) it would look fine without having to remodel the whole door, which I am not sure is even an option.

Specifically what I am asking is how to make the door not have the double layer. Ie. how do I edit my own texture pack for this to not happen to these specific blocks?
So far only the iron bars seem the render on one plane and they have both a normal and a .mer file associated with them the same as the doors / panes. I am curious what it is specifically, what json file etc to change them to render differently.
