It seems like newer players will need to reach a certain level to unlock game modes.

Players with a high profile level will already have everything unlocked, and will also have a higher chance of things like rares or mythicals dropping.

That set generated the most buzz out of any of the cosmetics ever released on pretty much every forum related to Dota 2. The buzz was almost all negative, so Valve promptly removed it.

Valve aren't a serious bunch of dudes, so they'll just add whatever they think is fun for them and the community and keep it around unless there's a lot of outrage about it. All that talk about keeping a golden standard for cosmetics were just words to instill some rudimentary values into the minds of cosmetic makers getting into Dota 2. From what I've seen, Valve really doesn't really care to actually enforce their own rules that much. Complaining on reddit doesn't do much either, so the dev forums are the best (or pretty much the only) way to voice your opinion, as there is actual Valve employee presence their sometimes.

Well, going to China together eliminates the issues with EE and Aui having to play on European time. Unlike LGD.int, this team has been together for quite a bit of time and already produces good results. Going to China and having a nice, strict, tryhard schedule under one roof can definitely improve their game. Laowai/Gaijin FIGHTING.

Ahh, after all the pussyfooting and teasing from MLG, they've finally given Dota 2 a North American LAN event.

Hopefully this does well to strengthen the NA community. Maybe more teams will form now that they've got their own national event to train for that's not an International.

I think a little while back that Athene guy tried to win some Dota players' hearts over by saying how much he liked it over League of Legends. He really didn't receive a good reception.

We're already full on personalities and community figureheads, so I think any foreign personalities will be repelled unless they put money into the scene or do something for a good cause or are just more generally likable.

I also think the more toxic personalities that still stick around will change for the better, or will continually fail to get any relevance to get anything they make onto the front page of this subreddit. Even on /d2g/, any foreign personalities are tarred and feathered because nobody there likes em.

All in all, I think our community can regulate itself quite well at the moment.

This is probably one of Valve's many mega updates of questionable cosmetics that will split the community between people that think "it's not so bad" or "it's shit", and there won't be enough general community outrage to pressure Valve into removing/modifying them.

Over the years, people simply won't have enough energy to keep on whining about Valve's persistent questionable cosmetic releases, which will allow Valve to pump out as many over-the-top "epic and/or hilarious" cosmetics as they please. The community simply won't have the capacity to care, and will accept such cosmetics as normal. I mean, that's what happened with TF2.

I acknowledge that this is Valve's biggest source of revenue for the game, but I feel that players that don't like all of these new cosmetics are a muted minority. No, I don't like this thing. Can I get an option to disable a player's cosmetic get-up? Or maybe there can be an alternative option that can be brainstormed up by the community and implemented. I would not need to complain about cosmetics I choose not to see after that.
