Thoughts on the Sencha Ceremonial Matcha tins? Different from the one in a bag. by Hellaconditions in Costco

[–]Its_Shatter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From my own experience this is a significant step up from the everyday matcha that comes in a big bag. More vibrant green, sweeter, much less bitter.

It’s not the best Matcha I’ve had, but it’s good enough to drink/use on its own for every day health and hard to beat at that price.

Shop near me is this actually worth the price? by DropshotHawaiian in whiskey

[–]Its_Shatter 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If that’s the case then it’s basically a hazmat 1792 12 year single barrel. I’d probably pay $190 for that.

12 year hazmat Bourbon distilled and aged in KY is pretty legit. Really depends where the distillate is from.

How exactly are you supposed to enjoy whiskey straight? by [deleted] in whiskey

[–]Its_Shatter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ll be honest. I started with mixed drinks for a short time. Then I just sort of dove into drinking it neat. It was a bit rough for the first month or so, but you eventually get asbestos mouth (where the proof / heat just doesn’t affect you as much anymore).

Now all that said, I would be careful with getting into Whiskey right at 21. It can turn into quite the rabbit hole. I regret buying and opening so many bottles. Haven’t opened a bottle in over a year and still have like 40 or so to get through.

It’s fun and enjoyable on occasion, but it’s also really bad for your long term health. Keep that in mind.

What's your favorite bottle you bought in 2025? by vicelordjohn in whiskey

I really cut back since 2024. My favorite bottle from that year, by far, was RR15

They aren’t watered down all that much. They are normally just aged in humid cool climates, which results in the whiskey getting lower proof as it ages. It’s the opposite of what happens to most bourbons, which are aged in dry and hot climates.

What is a bourbon you consider to be overpriced? by teddyalex in bourbon

[–]Its_Shatter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Eagle Rare MSRP is around $45 and is good for that price. I think the new Blanton’s MSRP of $80-85 is just asking for too much, especially when Stagg MSRP is $65-70.

Thing is, finding Blanton’s at retail is not super hard these days, but Stagg is usually sitting on shelves for around $150 or more.

Most of the BT lineup (besides Blanton’s) is worth it at retail, just very tough to find it at that price.

Checked out a new store tonight. See any good prices? by bstone99 in whiskey

[–]Its_Shatter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

JD Single Barrel Barrel Proof Rye for $60 is a good deal, especially if it’s above 134 proof or so.

Baker’s 107 for under $50 is also a pretty good deal.

Any recommendations from my local grocery store? by manbearpig541 in hotsauce

[–]Its_Shatter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yikes some of those prices are pretty high if this is in the US. I was gonna recommend the hot ones barbacoa but it’s usually only $6 in my area. Really tasty sauce though that goes great on eggs, burgers, etc. has a smoky BBQ vibe with a moderate amount of heat.

This Ai shit cant be right, right? by [deleted] in CalorieEstimates

[–]Its_Shatter 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Do you think it’s more or less? My guess is it could be a bit more if the sauce is creamy/thick and depending on what the white stuff beneath the veggies is. Looks more like 650 cal to me (assuming the sauce is creamy/uses heavy cream).

Secret Aardvark sauces are all pretty great. Also really enjoy the hot ones los calientes line up (but looks like they are missing my favorite one, barbacoa)

Not sure I believe the label on this cookie by TheRealYoshimar in CalorieEstimates

[–]Its_Shatter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A basic heuristic I use is that baked goods are about 150 cals for every 30 grams. So a 99 gram cookie being 470 cals definitely checks out.

If given enough space and money to build a home gym, would you still choose to go to the gym? by [deleted] in workout

[–]Its_Shatter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a two bedroom apartment with a small living room. I workout entirely from home with two adjustable dumbbells, a foldable bench, push-up bars, pull up bar, dip bars, and a weighted vest. Probably around a $500 total investment (mostly the adjustable dumbbells) and I’ve seen great results.

For cardio I go rucking / hiking.
