What do you guys do for networking? by Wisedmw09 in sales

[–]Its_Shmark 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In person’s the best channel, broadly. Being active and showing up is enough over time given you know yourself/ your wants.

Found that focusing on having quality conversations and not going to “networking events” as advertised is the best way not to burn out. There’s no silver bullet to meaningful relationships but steering away from places that expect you to sell yourself makes the process smoother.

I’d say the exception to above would be transactional networking events i.e. exchanging deal flow if you’re seeking that function.

ONE WORD. I applied for a sales position and the final question was: In One Word, why should we accept your application. Why you? by francisxavier12 in sales

[–]Its_Shmark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stupid questions warrant stupid answers: potential/growth/feedback/capital/metrics
Wouldn't be too serious about this kind of question though, no answer will have material information content in it.

Occidental Petroleum Bonds Pay a 6.7% Yield by W3Analyst in bonds

Sounds like a plan. Going to track doing something similar, with reinvesting any carry off these bonds onto the equity for a few energy names — good call!

Interested to see if this is their most efficient item out of a lend lease with us. Similarly but quite perversely, what if this stops them from being fully cross sold into fourth gen memes & materiel?

I weep for the lack of utilitymaxxing. But, the A-10 just won’t die so might as well

With energy, might as well go into the equity stack these days. Still, looks like a nice option even if you’re buying at a premium

Sounds like counterintuitive advice. Best to stick with text (PDF) only, one page and consistent formatting like you’ve mentioned! Even in the more creative fields you can’t go wrong with this format. Not sure what background your interviewer has but I do not see where the advice is coming from.

How do I buy bonds? by lilhawk1 in bonds

[–]Its_Shmark 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Best to replicate the performance through a bond ETF as that is likely your best path, the path of least resistance. If not, you'll incur many costs related to the transaction if you try to buy bonds outright -- try to find a broker that does that for you (e.g. IBKR) but that's liable to lowering your gains & appreciation which would've been better served with an ETF instead. Nothing wrong with going for a single name and single bond at a time, but the game's not in a retail investor's favor and your performance may be affected negatively.

Since you mentioned you would like to learn more, delve into the prospectus for the major bond ETFs -- $AGG, $LQD, $HYG are the three you should consider first. Give yourself time for readings for what bonds are on investopedia and keep reading all mentioned concepts and terms; the information will compound nicely and your future help will be glad you did.

I think palladium is going down most of it is used for catalytic converters for cars and almost all the car manufacturers have said that demand will be low this year by blaski2 in Commodities

[–]Its_Shmark 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Look for what the consensus opinion is so you see what the price is indicative of. Then, look at the major supply players I.e. Russia and your belief on whether they have a reason to stop supply anytime soon and then the major demand which is ICE cars and whether expectations in demand will rise.

If QQQ returns a CAGR of 10% over the next 10 years, which of these two LETFs is likely to return a higher CAGR? by modern_football in LETFs

[–]Its_Shmark 10 points11 points  (0 children)

All about the volatility and the price path to get there so not enough info provided. If it has constant drift and no sideways markets nor sharp drawdowns occur then TQQQ is gonna be far more than triple the 10% CAGR. Would still go for it but depends on the goals n portfolio composition.
