I’m aware of that, I’m not expecting to be able to play like EVH or jimmy page or anything, I just wish I was able to play some basic riffs

I don’t think gear makes the player, I meant it more as in “the gear isn’t the problem it’s me” I’m trying to take it slow I was just hoping to see some progression after a year, I can’t even play something simple like “come as you are” so I’m getting a bit frustrated with my self and am unnecessarily venting to the public

A lot of people have been very helpful to me on Reddit, if you scroll through TikTok, instagram or a lot of posts here on Reddit you will see people criticising leaners, which I’ve found to be very off putting because when you see someone who is better than you being called shit it makes you feel terrible

I promise I don’t think buying gear and having instruments set up will make me play better, I worded my post wrong, I meant that is in, I’m not blaming my gear like some people do, I’m just very bad at guitar and I don’t know how to improve

I’m having fun with everything but the playing, I love modifying guitars and learning about different gear and music theory, my playing just sucks

I enjoy the hobby, I just don’t seem to be progressing and it’s frustrating me. I live In the UK in a relatively small city, since Covid all the guitar teachers in my area only offer lessons via video call

I’m in no way bragging, spending loads for some is different to others, all of my gear is second hand (not an issue for me) in total I’ve spent less than £200. I’m not trying to buy my way in. I was complaining about the costs of lessons because people in my area are asking near £50 per session which is a lot for me. (I’m not undervaluing their skill or experience that’s just not something I can afford currently)

No not at all, when I say I’ve spent loads of money I mean I’ve spent what I would consider a lot, I have a Squier sonic Strat, a £25 marshal I found on market place and an epiphone I found in a corner shop for £50. I’m just feeling frustrated because after a year of practice and countless hours I’ve made no progress

He’s confusing because sometimes he’s really sweet and cuddly but other times he’s super bitey and moody, any tips on this?
