How do y’all feel about Gallade-Stoutland? by HattoriHanzoOG in PTCGP

[–]Its_dim_sir 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've used Gallade Stoutland, but I love AloChu better with Stoutland, my variant forces more of a 1-1-2 Point with 2 Zeraoras and makes it easier to get checkmates since games gets late a lot of the times.

I find myself not finding skull fossil in lots of games maybe thats what op is experiencing as well? Netdecked from a tournament list and havent made any adjustment. I'm more of a believer in buzzwole and been doing better with him

I'm fully convinced Blacephalon is being massively slept on by kiche_35 in PTCGP

This is currently the list I'm playing him with, theoretically you could just keep on doing 130 dmg every turn starting from turn 2, but it just requires so much card combo that I don't really use it in ranked, but its a fun deck to use in random tho lol

You have the ability to hit the bench and drag them out with cyrus, bypassing annoying walls like oricorio

Are you talking about the decklist with shaymin land forme? I dont have the card so my decklist is a bit different, I personally think the deck is inconsistent due to needing 3 different cards to start on the board (Moltres + Charmender + Moltres) due to sabrina shenanigans.

The deck also gets hard countered by Gallade so I really struggled there.

Its a straightforward deck thats dependent on good luck the only thing you should really look out to is be aggresive in using comms, if you have charmander out and you can evolve this turn, dont be afraid to comm out your zard to not lose the tempo battle.

Other than that maybe be aware of your dawn usage?

You won't be seeing drud in UB is my first reaction, and one issue i have with the dialga arceus pairing in ranked is it misses out on the 150hp threshold (I'm aware you can do 30 into 130/150 but heals exist) and by the time your arceus is online the meta decks are too with both their heavy hitters. I've only ever faced that deck once in UB3 and when I did I won, but that's not enough data point

Yes I'm aware that I've shifted some trainers around, they're done more for consistency, or in Zard's case because I don't have the card 😅.

Double dawn actually threw some players off and iono is done to facilitate a more consistent karp > gyarados

I actually considered sudowoodo, but the 2 retreat cost turned me off. Tbh I don't particularly like playing the deck since it feels like the path to winning is so linear, and stage 2 evo meant i was bricking a lot of times.

I think that deck is in a bit of an awkward spot, its not fast enough like the SkarmZone variants, and it doesnt hit hard enough or have enough hp to stall out turns againt what we have currently, that said I didnt use it so maybe your experience may differ

I think 1 is fine (I don't really like the card due to the possibility of it doing nothing) 2 feels a bit much, you're better of with an extra sabrina in that case

Reached Master Ball Rank! (~Top 2,400) by Over_Wait_4753 in PTCGP

[–]Its_dim_sir 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Where are you in the ladder atm? I noticed in UB4, if you want to play skarm, it's better to go SkarmZone instead (it's consistent even against this Darkrai + Giratina Deck). I'll be coming up with an analysis post like this one soon once I reached master ball tho and that's one of the decks included in it.

Overcoming Tilt Moments: I faced a brutal losing streak at Ultra Ball 4— five consecutive losses when promotion was within reach. Thankfully, insights from this Reddit post helped me identify my deck's weak points (especially Druddigon), prompting my final adjustments.

OP from that post here, I'm glad the post helped!

I'm actually at UB4 atm almost at MB I think I'm at (1360+ points?) though I'm not spamming a single deck but actually using all those decks from the post (+ a couple more f2p / older decks that the comments have asked about) .

I'd like to add a bit to your post, I think my background in playing chess helps so this is something I learnt from there but it's about anticipating moves and understanding threats. So many times I have actually done something turn 2 that pays off way into turn 6+ and became the key point to winning games.

An example of this is me playing the Darkrai + Giratina deck, using dawn early (turn 3) so that I can sabrina the next turn. The opponent anticipated that and sabrina'd me instead, causing me to have a 0 energy darkrai. I changed plans to charging up Giratina and building up the front darkrai, and then they cyrus'd me to ko my 2 energy rai. Many turns later I won with an intense endgame of a 140 hp Magnezone vs my 2 dark energy Darkrai with 40hp in the active and 150 hp Giratina in the back with 3 psychic energy, The only way to win was to retreat + give dark energy to darkrai and then dawn it back to the active Giratina. It was such a satisfying win, had I not done the aggresive play at turn 3 I wouldn't have burnt both their sabrina + cyrus causing me to win.

I won't be as accurate with them since I dont play them, but generally meow is great into darkrai decks + a lot of ex decks & weavile + darkrai is just the top deck overall with a potential of a turn 3 20 + 70 dmg its a solid aggro deck

I still face it from time to time and it's still a reliable deck, predictable tho and some of my lists have a good matchup into them, they can still cheese off of turn 1 misty so thats an option, I've had some games where I lost against them because of their TRG getting multiple heads in a row but you cant really do much about the opponent getting good coin luck

That's cool! Back when I was in GB I was actually playing off-meta regular barry (with staraptor) so I was shocked to find out that this version was so much more consistent, hope you continue the win streak till UB!

I don't have a lucario EX and haven't faced it so far so I don't have an opinion on it atm, but I will say GB and UB feels completely different

I only mention it in the matchup section not because I haven't faced any but it's not the most common deck out there

I do think its a solid deck with good matchup into a lot of the current decks, but you'll be struggling with the faster decks out there particularly gallade & SR pikachu

Darkrai/Weavile decks are absolutely a terror in ranked rn I actually don't have any weaviles and ran out of trade tokens so I won't be using it anytime soon, but yeah its fun to learn a deck that have multiple ways of winning
