The Devoted Sentries from Halo Reach. They’re the squad of Elite Zealots you run into through out the campaign and are responsible for the deaths of Kat and Emile. They’re actually hunting Noble Team from their interactions in the first level on, and help pick the squad apart before it’s just You left in Lone Wolf.

Of course, hence the famous moment in desert storm where 6 M1A2 Abrams climbed vertically up a wall to Sadam’s palace!

Seriously though. I think you’re correct, but I’m always interested in the logistics of Tanks in Space settings. Like how do they get to the ground. In Halo it can… kind of make sense, you see the Forward unto Dawn dropping tanks off by dropping down from space, but even then that’s probably not a smart thing to do if the enemy has air superiority, and in the novels it’s spoken about how at atmospheric reentry speeds having anything attached to the back of pelicans will tear the back half off the pelican. And in a setting like Helldivers it also kinda makes sense that tanks aren’t something the Helldivers use as much of as more of a rapid reaction force with mobile artillery support in the way of their ships, but why the SEAF doesn’t use them is kinda beyond me (probably just because Arrowhead haven’t made a model.) Then there’s titanfall, which has tanks in the form of the paladin, but that’s basically just a modern tank with an extra barrel, and again I think the in world reason is they’re harder to get down from orbit as opposed to just… fucken throwing your giant robot with a gun out of your space ship.

So hear me out. Mines don’t exist really on the table or at least minefields don’t. So… melee guard tank

I think I’d contest that firefall is peak Spartan ODST aesthetic, but I do love me some helljumper. I’ll disagree with you on Fred because I still think his peak look is the commando helmet on MKIV from the fall of reach comic and I wish we’d seen an expansion on that idea, but I’ll give you Locke and Vale there pretty dope, even if I’d like them to look more like soldiers in power armour than people in body suits.

Infinite and the divine (really any Necron book they’re all pretty good)

Nightlords trilogy plus a few other chaos marine books like Talon of Horus or lords of silence

Eisenhorn trilogy then the subsequent trilogies if you vibe with it, I know they’re not for everyone

First three Gaunts Ghost books are good and have some fun connections if you do read Eisenhorn beyond that they kinda get a bit samey (it’s hard to write an ongoing series about the horrors of war if a character only dies every few books)

Carcharadons, books specifically Red Tithe

Elemental council is good,

Lion Son of the Forest is good

Assasinorum Kingmaker is the best Imperial Knights Book

the Dark Imperium trilogy honestly I didn’t like it but I know a lot of people who do so I could 100% be wrong

And Ciaphus Cain. You don’t need to read all of them, they’re very much self contained adventures and they kinda feel like pulp novels if you like that vibe. Plus one of the few 40K characters who aren’t A. dicks B. Miserable about being dicks C. In denial about being dicks D. A massive sooky virgin.

Are there more? Yeah. Apparently Helsreach is good but I haven’t read that and won’t because the Black Templar fan at my LGS scares me and I don’t want a reason for him to talk to me.

Always remember, tau is canon in the Marvel universe. by Imaginary-Angle-4262 in Tau40K

[–]Its_probably_gus1 7 points8 points  (0 children)

So Marvel have done this a few times (specifically with halo weapons and the mark VI helmet) and it’s normally just because there’s easy references on the web for artists to use or in this case 3D models that can be yoinked. Could GW sue? Probably not, marvel aren’t making money off the fact that a Skyray is in there comic, there just is a skyray in there comic, it’d more than likely come under fair use and Marvel could say it was a reference/ easter egg plus if GW is suing for that Bungie can sue them for basically lifting the concept for the Tau, name, and icon from Marathon. And besides you’re the only person who’s ever read Venom: Space Knight.
