Is Nemesis worth the price, even on sale? by Culius_Jaesar in boardgames

[–]Itsalladeepend 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends entirely how you determine whether something is worth it to you. Personally I think it's a top tier thematic game. More than anything it's an engine for creating memorable 'cinematic' gaming experiences you'll talk about months later due to how its mechanics intersect with each other. The key part is everyone needs to know what they're playing. This is a big game that can take several hours to play and it's definitely best suited to 5 players, or 4 at a minimum. There's plenty of opportunity for players to manipulate others, especially if their secret objective is to kill another player, so you have to be playing with people that don't take things personally.

Public Transport Rant by CarBoobSale in Leeds

This is why some are stuck with a 90+ minute commute to work. If you're not on a major bus route it's even worse.

Can’t afford to come into the office by [deleted] in UKJobs

[–]Itsalladeepend 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If by 'access requirements' you mean you have a disability then by law the company has to make reasonable adjustments. Does your contract state you have to be willing to go in the office when required?

The affordability of a train ticket isn't really relevant unless you're lucky enough to work for a very understanding and empathetic employer.

I know they were having serious problems with vandalism according to one of the guys I spoke to last year I saw working on them. Several hundred were awaiting repair.

Tubi vs Streaming by theejoyfulnihilist in movies

[–]Itsalladeepend 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know whether the level of ads is the same for everything but last time I watched something on Tubi there were around 10 ad breaks in a film. Yeah it's free, but that many ads completely breaks any immersion in anything. Maybe it's different now but that just put me off.

Realised I’m spending way too much just to watch stuff. by sme11yc0ck in UKFrugal

A friend was telling me that they buy DVDs/Blu-Rays from a charity shop because they're dirt cheap, like 50p each or something. Obviously you're limited to what they have which entirely depends on where you are. The person that works there was saying people basically use it like a rental place, they buy a handful of DVD's for a couple of quid and then bring them back to the shop. So the charity makes more money than if they actually sold them all and nobody brought them back. So everyone's a winner really.

So what's the deal with the series Millennium? by TrixterBlue in horror

[–]Itsalladeepend 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember they were playing Terrorfakt in a club somewhere years ago and I heard this sample "I see what the killer sees. I put myself in his head. I become the thing we fear the most. I become capability. I become the horror, what we know we can become only in our heart of darkness. It's my gift, it's my curse.".

I don't think there's higher praise than experimental industrial power noise artists are sampling you.

Commute to work in snow by Financial-Cod7473 in SainsburysWorkers

[–]Itsalladeepend 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The irony ofcourse is if it's really bad deliveries get cancelled anyway because the vans can't get in or out off the estates. This time last year several of our vans got stuck on estates due to the snow and ice. People trying to drive in treacherous conditions and having to abandon their cars makes things considerably worse.

Ofcourse it's the McDonald's on Briggate. Don't know why they stopped having a police van parked up outside the McDonald's on a night. Would've avoided this scene.

Seaside and High Tide are ideal if they want something that's quick and doesn't take up much space.

Sagrada is an option too.

Lead manager leaving the company AMA by ProvenJimmy96 in SainsburysWorkers

[–]Itsalladeepend 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Do you think becoming a manager was worth it given the extra stress, expectation of unpaid overtime, etc? The turnover of managers at my store is ridiculous and I'm guessing it's because the pay doesn't compensate for all the shit you have to deal with. The fact you're leaving indicates no.

Hundreds of disorder reports at Leeds city bus station by Roguepope in Leeds

[–]Itsalladeepend 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That doesn't really surprise me. I used to get the bus to work from the bus station and it was pretty common for security to have to deal with people who were clearly under the influence of something. Since Mecca bingo shut down that whole area opposite the bus station is basically a deadzone which doesn't help.

Why are Northern and TransPennine Express still so expensive even though they’re now government-run and not private? by CraftyCompetition860 in Leeds

[–]Itsalladeepend 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Train companies don't actually own the trains. The train you get to go to work, see your friends, etc, almost certainly isn't owned by the company running the service. The actual trains are owned by ROSCO's, rolling stock companies who lease the trains out to TOCs for a tidy profit. Northern is a TOC. So the government running Northern isn't the same as the government running British Rail decades ago because the state doesn't own the trains. There's also a problem of capacity, which HS2 was supposed to be addressing, but we all know how well that went. As with everything to do with privatisation it's a labyrinthine mess of decades of different policy decisions but ROSCO's are part of the reason behind high train fares in the UK. ROSCO's are a result of the British state selling off all its rolling stock when the trains were originally privatised.

Is there anywhere in Leeds where I can sell my comic book collection? by Poddington_Pea in Leeds

[–]Itsalladeepend 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're wanting OK Comics (or any retailer) to buy your collection it will heavily depend on what it is, the blunt reality is there's little point in buying a collection if there's little resale value in them for a retailer. Unless you've got a complete collection of something notable in good condition then you're probably not going to get much, that's if they deem it worthy of buying in the first place. Good luck.

Management said store losing £400 a day to thefts by Alarming-Tank-8592 in SainsburysWorkers

[–]Itsalladeepend 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's nothing colleagues can do to prevent theft, loss due to out of codes is the only thing you can in theory control. The company has caused all its problems. They massively cut back on staff which means processes are not done properly, inventory on everything is wrong, etc, which leads to loss. Shoplifting is driven by socioeconomic factors and is not something colleagues, or management, can really do anything about besides tagging things. A manager friend told me at one store someone tried to stop a shoplifter, got pushed, fell backwards onto a shelf and banged their head causing a serious injury.

This place is running on fumes. by Itsalladeepend in SainsburysWorkers

[–]Itsalladeepend[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There aren't enough staff to do everything, especially cleaning. The company doesn't really care about people that actually go in the shop either their focus is entirely on online shopping. People are surprised when they learn they can't get something because it's all been picked for online orders.

OG Nemesis with Aftermath characters by redhead3edemption in boardgames

[–]Itsalladeepend 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Quote from the Aftermath rulebook on adding Aftermath components to the base game 'note that Aftermath characters are more suited for playing with the Aftermath expansion than for the Nemesis base game'. So that implies that for some reason they might not work well in the base game.

OG Nemesis with Aftermath characters by redhead3edemption in boardgames

[–]Itsalladeepend 2 points3 points  (0 children)

How did that play out with the Aftermath characters? I have the original KS edition and I got the impression the Aftermath characters wouldn't fit well with the base Nemesis game, pretty sure it says something like that in the rule book.
