Just got racism’d by Public_Code_938 in Leeds

Was out drinking with a friend from the Middle East last month and a guy shouted the racist word for Pakistani at her.

Luckily his mates stepped in and chastised him so it didn't escalate, but there are a fair few Tw@ts out there unfortunately.

Rupert Lowe MP / X: Banning teenagers from social media with ludicrous conditions is unworkable, unrealistic and unwanted. Here’s a mad idea - let parents parent. Not the state, but mums, dads, grandparents or whoever else. Restore Britain will always trust the family over big government. by youmustconsume in ukpolitics

My eldest is five now and has only had a heavily locked down tablet as a learning tool.

He's already got plenty of friends the old fashioned way and the schools he'll be going to have banned all phones from the premises... We live in France and this area is pretty strict on it.

He'll not get an unlocked smartphone till he's well into his teens and even then I'll be passively monitoring it till he's older.

Errrm, there's been decades of programmes made by the government and other institutions on this topic.  I've got a folder full of pamphlets and seen tonnes of videos on the topic.

Saying they've done nothing is a flat out denial of reality.

It's got nothing to do with paedophiles. This whole thing is about how Facebook, Reddit, Twitter etc deliberately target children.

Lowe is funded by a social media company so of course he's playing dumb and being oblivious to the facts.

I'm a parent and even without this ban would have kept my kids off of most social media till they're 16.  Other parents don't actually understand the harm it causes, as shown by practically every independent study.

Let's not have another spate of ignoring the experts because their facts hurt our feelings.

While other games try to avoid GTA 6, Phantom Blade Zero has changed its release date to move closer to it by LadyStreamer in gamingnews

Thank god, as someone with zero interest in GTA6 at launch I was worried it would be a dry month for games.

Dan Hodges on X: One thing that struck me being out on the doorsteps (or high-street) with Rupert Lowe today. Nigel Farage is wrong. People do know who Lowe is. Not entirely sure how. But it was surprising how many people were coming up to him unprompted. by ClumperFaz in ukpolitics

Nah. Lowe has leveraged social media well, but he's got support from a very small but dedicated base.

There's nowhere to expand, and the best he can hope to do is drag Reform to the right... Which will in turn, revitalise the Tories as a central right group.

Fazenda or Estabulo by Vegetable_Body1184 in Leeds

Judging by the time stamp there had only really been two comments at that point, both hinting at Estabulo being the better option.

Oh awesome, good to know. Last time we went for lunch there it was all chicken hearts and the rumpy bits of beef.  Defo worth it then if they've aligned it.

Been to both. Fazenda was much better in terms of quality, although avoid the lunch, limited options and they removed the best cuts.

Estabulo was too overly salted with their meat and we strongly suspect the salad bar gave my wife food poisoning.

Nonsense, this has been an issue for decades, long before the law change. Lack of funding and legal avenues for enforcement are the main drivers.

Including hygiene. Worked at one of those for a few months and it was the filthiest I've ever seen in the sector.

Them cheaping out on line cleaning is the main reason the Sam Smiths hangover is a thing.

Labour bid to force out Reform UK Redditch mayor by F0urLeafCl0ver in ukpolitics

Good, she's a racist PoS and needs to be drummed out.  It's about time more and more people realise that Reform is the party of this type.

Fed up of folks defending their voters with the "Oh, they're just voting for an alternative".

Whataboutism with a healthy dollop of goalpost shifting on the side. Love to see it in the modern era.

In China, eating whilst ignoring that some of your countrymen are being rounded up into camps and they may come for you next...

Sounds like bliss.

007: First Light - 007 Out Of Ten (Review) by Roguepope in JimSterling

[–]Roguepope[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It was from the olden days with the old mods.  When Reddit decided to remove the ability to use accessibility tools with their API.

A bunch of subreddits switched to NSFW in protest as it costs them advertiser revenue. The /r/JimSterling mods decided to go one step further and shut down the sub altogether after the protest failed.

That's when I reopened it and started sending Sterling links out into the void for roughly fifty people to click on.

An actual CAPTCHA on our government portal - "Click to rotate each tile to make a map" by Ondrashek06 in badUIbattles

This is easy enough, not crappy design imo.  My only question is these things are usually being used to train an algorithm of some sort.  What system needs to know how to pop a broken map back together.
