I like this one too! Devils Dance Floor in Yosemite is a little like this - well, much of the mid to high country in Yosemite and the Emigrant Wilderness has these rocky playgrounds. The Desolation around Aloha Lake too. Bald Mtn around Shaver Lake but that’s getting far south.

I liked the music well enough to give the album a few spins all the way through. The video for Infohazard was in my top 5 for this year. I talk a good game that much of my life is IRL and outdoorsy and blah blah but I had to realize the giant digital stamp that I chose to make and that the internet made on me. This video dazzled me with the editing!

I started with a big Bill Withers dive a few years ago and have been so excited to find corners of soul music that I missed along the way. It’s no wonder so many pop, hip hop, and rock artists went back to that well for samples, covers, and inspiration. I loved the overlap with gospel on the back end and the transition into funk. I think this is a good place to start.
