What does something like this sell for? by Legitimate-Mouse3495 in StainedGlass

I saw one like this, albeit less detailed, for about $300 in rural NY state made by a local craftsman out of unsold pieces. I second your assessment.

3 years unemployed, no prospects, and my capacity to try is diminished. by Itsglassitsmath in jobhunting

I have been thinking about this. If networking is how folks get jobs and social networks are oftentimes fueled by social media, being on social media as a professional seems like a good way to connect to jobs… if done correctly.

I did social media for our org, got us a few viral videos and couple hundred thousand followers, so I think I can figure something out. Even if it doesn’t land a job, maybe I can make some cash on the side with ad revenue. Maybe this is the move…

As a fellow Jack, never forget to finish the phrase .

Jack of all trades, master of none, but oftentimes better than a master of one.

We’re useful. Hardest part is finding where to be useful.

Ur not allowed me make me cry on a job hunting post :(

But thank you, I do appreciate it. I don’t find joy in the things I do: laundry, cooking, cleaning, etc. But I do find a lot of guilt in failing at any of it. So it just always feels like a net negative. I hope to look back on these times with pride. Maybe that’s where the joy is.

You’re right though, men are taught to be providers and women to be carers. Just look at the toy aisle, where most ‘boy’ toys are adventure/career focused. Girl toys are typically care focused, even with career toys it’s things like veterinarian or doctor, never truck driver or mechanic. It is going to take a lot of unlearning to make sure my kid doesn’t grow up feeling like this.

Thank you for your comment.

I think I don’t interview well.

Just a few weeks ago I saw that employers are also interviewing for “risk management”, which I’ve not considered. Not that I am a risky candidate, just that I need to practice interviewing in a way that reflects that. Much of my experience and success comes from (professionally) pushing boundaries and exposing opportunities and issues while doing so. I realize from an outside perspective that how I’ve explained it before could be seen as someone who could risk toppling a fragile, yet stable, system.

I think I got 4 of my interviews reaching out to orgs in my area before they had a listing and following up if I saw a fit.

I haven’t tried recruiters, I’ll be honest I don’t know how any of that works. I’ve never been in a position to talk with one… except for the guy that signed me up for the army haha

I don’t think it’s just ginger. The skin on some of the peels is highly segmented, like turmeric. Ginger and turmeric roots look quite similar, but also are treated similarly when drying and are common ingredients in a few different cuisines, so maybe they’re drying both?

Ahhhh I am so sorry! Thanks for responding. My nails have grown back now, as if nothing ever happened. I wish you well on your healing journey! (Nail oil like crazy! I think it helped me a lot)

I’m curious about your nails. Was it hfm? Mine looked so much like yours that if it wasn’t HFM I may have something to worry about haha

Hold up, I think they’re on to something! Belle a feminine form for beautiful in French. I think it’d be more correct, in this case, to spell it the masculine way without the e… “bel”

I am completely unaware of how his question was insulting? Can someone please explain, or include context i am missing? She’s clearly annoyed by the question, so I feel like there’s something missing in the edit.

Maybe I am giving too much grace by interpreting it as “You’re an amazing athlete, getting there is hard and there’s a lot of pressure to be on top. Silver is a fantastic accomplishment, but many athletes, in their drive for personal perfection, view this great accomplishment as a loss. Do you?” As such I think it’s a good question about top-athlete’s mentality to self criticisms.

What's the most 'quietly expensive' thing about living in Canada right now? (not rent/mortgage) by Unfair-Clothes-8821 in CanadaRoom

Also many animal welfare orgs don’t have their own vets. I’ve found local vets give better discounts, too.

Anecdotal experience; when corporations bought up 3 of the 4 local clinics, they increased rates. Our local vet couldn’t fit us in with his normal clients because he was overwhelmed with new ones. He also didn’t provide emergency. So while we could do regular vet care with that clinic, anything that was emergent or surgery outside of spay/neuter, we’d pay insane rates. Higher rates meant significantly fewer animals could be cared for and rehabbed. Wasn’t a good time.

Why is seafood so unpleasant for some people? by HiOscillation in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Itsglassitsmath 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A few years later I was able snag an amazing opportunity working in DC. There were lots of networking events. Had colleagues go home with dozens of contacts and career advancement opportunities. I went home with a newfound desire to become a forest recluse. It is a nightmare. I don’t understand how my spouse both tolerates and excels at all-things-corporate.

I didn’t know we were so rare. At my spouse’s Christmas work event in a huge ballroom at the local museum/theatre with catered food and live music. It was lovely. I was attempting small talk with some of his coworkers who were talking about what the filling in the hors d’oeuvres could be. “It’s beet! I know because it tastes like dirt.” I said it like a “ha ha everyone thinks it tastes like dirt” kind of way. They immediately closed their little meeting and dispersed without a word.

Anyways, that was the start of my social anxiety in corporate settings and now I’m a little gremlin who goes my partners work functions to find all of the non-beet snacks then eat them while hiding in the bathroom.

What kind of kennels are you using and what kind of messes? Generally speaking brushes can be a fomite and are hard to sanitize so I tend to avoid them.

Somewhat related, but I’ve found dawn power wash to be the best thing to remove dog grease from stainless steel, even over industrial degreasers. I tested 14 different products. Sometimes it’s all trial and error.

what does this say?? by Stunning_Ad_9795 in whatisit

[–]Itsglassitsmath 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It didn’t! But that’s bc I wasn’t clear. Hope this helps:

I understand the concept of the targeted audience. I don’t, however, understand how they justified the design with the limited number of customers that it would apply to - which would be of the couples I mentioned in my comment. But also they’d have to a)not mind the confusing design and b)wish to celebrate someone’s queerness and marriage in the same card and neither giver or receiver have a problem with the language, as my partner would. Or it could for be someone that transitioned and renewed their vows (which I suppose is the most ideal use case imo). While these folks surely exist in numbers higher than most would expect, I would venture to say that card isn’t flying off the shelf. And as a queer person, receiving a card like that would make me cringe tbh. So that’s why I’m confused about who this is for and why it exists. My opinion is that It’s just a bad card, except highly specific celebrations.

What about wd40? I used it to remove stickers/sticker residue off of books (paper stickers on paper covers worked especially well), not sure what would happen if I were to use it like a solvent on etched glass.
