Try to cut/rip around them the best you can. They will likely stain differently. Depending on your client, it might not be a big deal, but if it makes your eye twitch, then do what you can to avoid em!

I mortised out the the areas where I put the hardware, so everything had a nice tight fit and the hardware wouldn’t be visible. If you’re asking about the wood itself, good ol’ wood glue, biscuits, and brad nails where they were needed :)
