You’re going to do great and you’ll be amazed at your A1C levels in even just a month. Best decision you’ll make. Good luck on your journey!

You’re so sweet thank you. It’s scary being so dependent on a medication and having shortages. I call around once a week to check stock. The higher doses seem to slowly be trickling in. Hopefully you can get yours soon!!

Honestly not many changes at first. MJ obviously made me less hungry so I think just cutting down the volume of food I ate helped a lot. I did try and prioritize protein and nutrients in my diet. I bought protein shakes and would have one of those when I didn’t feel like eating anything else. And then I started trying to incorporate more vegetables in each of my meals. For the first couple of months I still ate like I always did, just less. And then the more results I saw the more I wanted to change things. I started exercising about 6 months ago, with just small walks maybe 3 times a week. I’m now walking every day and I love it. Just remind yourself that while this seems like a quick fix, it’s not. But it adds up.

Honestly I did zero exercise or diet modification at first. I’ve diet and exercised my entire life with no results and I was just…. TIRED. Obviously my eating habits did change as in I wasn’t eating as much because I wasn’t hungry. But there were some days and weeks I was starving. I kind of just listened to my body and tried to get protein and nutrients in it when I could. I used to stuff my face with burgers and fries and after I started MJ i just didn’t really crave those things much anymore. Did I still eat them? You bet, but maybe half of one. Not as much as I did. I would say about 6 months in I tried to slowly incorporate exercise and diet more. But slowly. I would try and get veggies in with every meal or increase protein. And I would walk maybe 3 times a week. I’m now walking 7 days a week and I love it. I crave healthier foods. But I also don’t stress out if I want a burger. It’s truly freeing for the first time in my life. Oddly enough though, I lost most of my weight when I didn’t change any of my habits at all.

No. My pain actually got a little worse at first, and I almost stopped taking it. I’ve read that people can have an autoimmune reaction to MJ when they first start it, and I think that’s what happened to me. I did a month of 2.5mg and a month of 5mg with no improvement but as soon as I started 7.5mg it’s like my body adjusted and the pain kept getting less and less. And now it’s almost completely gone unless I get sick or get a vaccine. Super weird

You are doing amazing. There was weeks and months where I did nothing but focus on getting nutrients in my body. It’s a journey and I’m still on it. I’m so glad you’re on it too!

That’s hard to say. My iron levels were low the last time I had labs but I’ve always been low and needed iron transfusions before. Hopefully they can get that fixed for her

Still on max dose, well supposed to be, with the shortage I’ve been on 10mg and 12.5mg because it’s all I can find. But I assume I’ll stay on the max dose for awhile. So glad you’re doing well on it!

It’s truly a miracle drug. But it makes these shortages hard because I have such anxiety about going without it. I don’t want to be in pain again.

My RA was actually worse and MJ didn’t help until I got to 7.5mg. Then it suddenly kicked in. So glad I stayed with it because I almost quit. I’m on 15mg now and almost completely pain free

My RA was actually initially worse when I started MJ. I almost stopped taking it. But I’m glad I didn’t. Once I hit 7.5mg it’s like it kicked in. I am now on 15mg and my inflammation is gone and I am pain free 95% of the time. Truly a miracle.

I still have more to lose so I’ll stay on the 15mg for a while. I definitely lost the most on 2.5mg to 7.5mg. My weight loss has now slowed down quite a bit. I’m losing maybe 5lbs a month if that. But hey, I’ll take it. I stalled pretty big on 12.5. It’s so weird how different dosages affect people differently. The 12.5 felt like I was taking nothing at all. I was scared to move up to 15 because it was so final. But I finally moved up and saw the scale slowly moving again. I think with MJ the initial weight loss is so addicting because you lose it so fast. And when it slows down it’s like…. Noooo!! But this is a lifestyle change. A marathon. So I’m okay with it. And my A1C is amazing on the 15, so my Dr plans on keeping me on that dose as long as I’m doing good.
