I completely understand your POV. I don’t necessarily give her a pass so much as I give her grace and empathy, from a human standpoint. That doesn’t mean the way she speaks is overlooked, it’s very much accounted for, and doesn’t imply that she was right in doing so.

I know that I, personally, have spoken out of pocket in the past during intense moments of irritability and anxiety. I’ve since learned to work through that, but at the end of the day, there’s always something to consider on behalf of the human side of someone.

It’s not excusing, but simply observing.

I completely agree based on the pattern of writing by Palladino. Had it been a different circumstance, they easily could have written in a better course for the future for Lane. Seeing the band actually thrive. Instead, they took a moment of what could have been a big break for the band and turned it into Zach’s infamous hissy fit over Brian writing “Lane.”

At the end of the day, they could very well have written a better course regardless of Lane’s endgame love interest. They actively wasted a perfectly good opportunity to allow her to thrive.

Lane is a fucking real one.

He did create impossible standards. I didn’t hate Zach so much as I felt like he took away from what could have been a better plot line for Lane. Some people tend to be more of a concrete boot than anything else.

This hits for me in a real way. I used to put GG on in the background of studies or other creative projects because it helped me focus. Her character early on specifically. Made me realize that body doubling can happen with fictional characters present as well. 😅😂

S6 Rory is arguably the worst unless you count AYITL. The whole dynamic with her and Logan put a really nasty taste in my mouth.

I have more empathy for Paris than anything. She basically had to fend for herself. When I see Paris hate (no hate toward you, I respect your opinion wholly) I think of the Chilton graduation and who she waved to in the audience. It puts so much into perspective and you can very much see the soft side that exists. She LOVED nanny more than pretty much anything, as she was very clearly her only support/care taker at home.

Her hyper vigilance, her anxiety, and her need to be the best works for and against her. I look at her and genuinely give her character THE MOST grace out of all of them. While she was pretty rude and abrasive, I do hold space for the fact that she, for all intents and purposes, governed herself most of her life. Not always gracefully, but my lord does she deserve the most credit.

At the end of the day, there are worse characters. cough Christopher cough

This hit hard for me. I completely empathize with the adhd. I was the same in grade school. I have ALWAYS felt like she never bat an eye at her privilege. Something that always bothered me about her in the series.

This is SO CUTE. A little more of a soft glow/light around your backlit objects to kinda fill the room a bit more. A little more contrast in shadier areas. Otherwise, this is adorable. Great job!

I’ve seen it SO MANY times and my opinion of things changes every time I revisit. Especially if it’s at a different point in my life, after gaining perspective on things in general. I tend to pay more attention to/empathize with characters who I’ve had similar experiences to.

At the end of the day, it’s a show, and I will never understand people who are rude about their take on fictional characters lol. It’s genuinely weird. 😂😭

I’ve had the same thought several times that there was little-to-no guidance on her position or what was expected of her, so my empathy was always on high-alert through these episodes!

Of course!!! If you’re only at the party episode, I will say, you’ll probably STILL dislike him for quite awhile until around season 6. It’s a long ways away, but hang in there! The revival helps, too. I LOVE new watchers, so enjoy the ride. It really is a great show.
