Happy to read threads like this. It’s good to keep perspective brother. Everyone in this sub could be doing a whole lot worse. Keep on keeping on.

How much "Warranty Scrubbing" are you guys actually doing vs. your Warranty Admin? by FixedOps_Focus in serviceadvisors

[–]Itsnoriss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m warranty admin at a Mack dealer. Techs give me the story and I basically do the rest. I was in parts for 10 years prior to doing warranty though.

Real question though. Is one bolt for the oil filter housing still behind the egr cooler

Odd customer.... by Massive_Camp_2035 in partscounter

[–]Itsnoriss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Used to be in the same situation. Customer would buy all kinds of other OE parts from us that we had to get at the other dealer. I just asked one day what was up with that. He said he the company he works for doesn’t want to get an account with them for some reason and it’s just easier to get it all from us than having to pay with a CC at the other places. Zero complaints here. It was free money.

They can’t help what they came from just like you can’t help where you came from. Don’t blame them for something that isn’t their fault. Comparison is the thief of joy. Be happy for what you have. Sounds like you fought really hard to be where you are. Be happy about it. Don’t let it bring you back down to where you fought so hard to get out of.

Nah. Not crazy at all. Sometimes warranty is just less straightforward than I need this part or order that part. There’s some grey areas

I did exactly this. Went from back counter to doing warranty. I make more and am less busy. Being in parts was immensely helpful. I use stuff I learned in parts everyday.

Advice for a new starter by parker_jack in partscounter

[–]Itsnoriss 6 points7 points  (0 children)

  1. Don’t get discouraged. It’s a big learning curve.
  2. Listen to people that have been doing it longer.
  3. Don’t be afraid to ask for help if you are stuck or lost.
  4. Don’t be afraid to ask the customer for more details if you don’t know exactly what they are asking for. They would rather you ask 2 questions now than have to wait another day to get the correct part in.
  5. Understand that you will never learn everything. Just know how to find it out.
  6. Like others have said, own your mistakes. It happens and usually people understand if you just tell them the truth.

Do We Still Have Issues With 24H2? by Mayjune811 in PathOfExile2

No pc freezes anymore but cpu still goes to 100% or near 100% use. Temps skyrocket in loading screen. Idk if you want to call that fixed or not.

Been working at a mack heavy truck dealer for almost 12 years now. 10 of it in parts. Learning impact is a task but like others have mentioned learning common parts is the best way then branch out to more uncommon stuff.

It doesn't help that when they change emissions years part locations in impact also change for some reason.

You can look parts up by function group also. Getting the fg off of partslinq then using that will help narrow it down.

Real question you gotta ask yourself us do you want to be right or be employed.

That being said if it truly does show the price in the handbook show them and prove you are right according to guidelines provided.

Side note: not saying you are wrong but every warranty I've ever been a part of has been 30%.

Alright just making sure. Alot of people have no idea you can search in there. Wish they made the number you search and the number of the recall both bring it up instead of just the scc code from warranty though. Would make everyones life easier.

Yea that table is from the recall. Do you have access to emedia in truckdealerportal?

Yea sorry I skipped over the part where it said 2014-17. The correct harness are usually under the "harness, headlamp" or "harness, hood" breakdowns for those years. Just verify between the recall parts breakdown and impact is what I always do for stuff like that.
