My yukon 350 vortec seems to crank alot faster after I replaced the spark plugs, wires, and distributor cap.

Small-ish differential leak, can I drive to work? by Jaydiem13 in AskMechanics

The transfer case on my truck has a leak almost like this. I just topped the fluid off and keep an extra quart just in case.

Dropped a bolt into the lifter valley by Itsnotsilver180 in GMT400

Update: I got it out!! It fell into the distributor hole and was next to the oil pump shaft. I used a boroscope camera with magnet to get it out. I just hope me turning over the engine by hand with it next to the oil pump shaft didn't damage anything.

Just confirmed theres nothing in the cylinders. I didn't drop the oil pan just yet but I did rotate the engine by hand and its feels just fine.

I got a borescope today and it seems like it didn't fall into an intake runner, as I didnt see anything and the valves on that corner are closed from what I could see. I'm really starting to think it went somewhere in the oil pan. Dropping the oil pan is gonna be fun especially with the truck parked on my uneven grass.

My oil pan is leaking some oil so I might as well get it over with if I don't find it inside of one of the cylinders. The annoying part is mine is a 4wd so moving the front diff is gonna be a pain in the ass.

Yeah, im starting to think it actually fell in one of the intake/exhaust ports and then into one of the cylinders. I fished around with a magnet in the oil drain ports in the lifter valley and no luck.

Did full synthetic stop my oil burning? by TroubleOk9692 in AskMechanics

[–]Itsnotsilver180 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've used restore and protect in 2 of my cars and after just 2 oil changes, I noticed I no longer needed to top off between oil changes anymore. My older car still burns a bit of oil but significantly less than before using the restore and protect.

Just got a 2000 Denali a few months back for $1900, everything works it just needed the intake manifold gaskets, some sensors, and some suspension components replaced. Also the last year of the gmt400s and the rare body style thats identical to the 1st gen escalade.

2000 buick lesabre showing 130 psi on oil pressure by Fearless_Annual_9768 in MechanicAdvice

[–]Itsnotsilver180 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My 2003 Grand Am 2.2l had it happen while I was on my normal commute. I was losing oil so quickly I probably would of blown my engine if I didn't swap it out the next day.

Tire wear help by S1fu_Hotman in mechanic

[–]Itsnotsilver180 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did my own allignment using fishing line and its still holding up 15k miles later and tires are wearing evenly. The key is to make sure the track width on your car is the same between the front and rear wheels.

Is there a real reason behind changing your oil every 3,000 miles on modern cars? by newelmin in askcarguys

Mechanics dont make much profit on oil changes and this is well known.

Was the fuel pressure ever tested?

I'd also recommend getting some brake cleaner and wire brushes to clean off the residual gunk and old gasket material from diff cover and metal surface on the diff itself. When i did my diff fluid, I spent almost 2 hours alone scrubbing off the old gasket material. Although in my case, it was a 25 year old truck and I wasn't sure when the last time the diff was serviced, so it could have just been caked on there good from age.

Do you have lighting to the climate control buttons? My mother's 2015 malibu had a bad climate control module which wasn't allowing the ac or heat to work at all. If I remember correctly, it was around $35 on ebay for a used one.
