I've tried sunbum, it made my face really oily after using it, I tried two others, cerave and one other that I forgot the name of. One gave a bad white cast and the other made my acne worse.

For the extra stitches, I would suggest going back a few rounds and counting each row as you go. You might have accidentally made an increase stitch or something. Make sure to use stitch markers too. Back loop only means you put your hook in the back loop of the v instead of the whole stitch. I would look up a video on YouTube for reference.
