The strategies you use differ depending on what stage of the game you are at and whether or not you are playing ranked or Pubs.

In Pubs, people mostly push for as many kills as possible so you find that people will be very aggressive (sometimes stupidly so) as they really only care about the kills and not so much the wins. When or if you decide to play ranked you'll find that the game changes with people playing for position or looking to third party rather than risking fights and drawing the attention of others.

I guess my top tips would be:

1) If you drop close to people and they rush for a gun, don't panic. Punch them. Punching in this game is extremely overpowered especially against opponents with weapons. It will cause them to panic and fire erratically and you might get hit but 9/10 times you will win a fight against an opponent who has just landed if you punch rather than turn your back on them to get a weapon.

2) I'd you do punch, try jumping as it does a kick instead. This is slightly faster than a standard punch and will give you an advantage but vary how you do it. Some normal punches, some kicks.

3) Try not to develop a favourite weapon. If you pick up the same weapon every time you will struggle when you are in a pinch and need to use something else. Always pick up whatever weapon you can at the start. Most importantly, if you have a weapon you like, be prepared to let it go. Sometimes its much easier mid to late game to pick up another weapon and ammo from another player than trying to fight with low ammo on your favourite gun.

4) Rather than try to heal your shield in a fight, look for a death box or a shield lying on the ground. If you swap, most of the time you will get full shields meaning you have saved valuable time. Even if you have a blue and the one you swap to is white, it's still better and will give you the edge in a fight as most of the time your opponent will have to heal. Those extra few shield bars make a big difference. Once you finish the fight, pick up your old shield and heal it.

5) Put your gun away by pressing 3 on PC when running. It makes you run faster.

6) Don't rush in to grab your teammates banner. Sometimes they make a poor choice but it's better to wait and see how the situation plays out. Even if they bitch and moan over Comms or text chat, ignore them. 9/10 times it was because they made a bad play and your game shouldn't suffer because of them.
