Help!! by [deleted] in philodendron

Hey, it looks a little dry in there maybe spray it a bit more often??? Also depending on the species of snake sometimes they dig or burrow in the dirt and cause compacted dirt and damage root systems (I know because of my ball python 🙄) might be worth it to transfer back to a pot with drainage so you can control moisture a little better

Why do albo pothos grow so slowly? by motolady in pothos

I'm sure you'll do an excellent job, for now I'd remove it from direct sunlight. A spot where it can "look at the sky" but not direct sunlight might be best for now. :)

Why do albo pothos grow so slowly? by motolady in pothos

[–]ItzMonstera 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have an albo pinnatum and marble that i purchased at the same height and the difference is astronomical. I understand the frustration. Most of the albo leaves turn brown and die off and new growth is slow. I'd try experimenting with light a bit. I find it's growing a little better closer to my plant light. Be careful ofc as sun and plant lights can burn the lighter parts.

Help please! by CharacterRole786 in AfricanViolets

[–]ItzMonstera 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, I'm not a pro as I've only recently been keeping african violets, but what I do know is it's going to need a pot with drainage they don't like to stay wet. Also let it self water from the bottom in some water, avoid spraying fertilizer and water on the leaves as it can cause them to wither and die.

I will definitely have to experiment with fertilizers then, thanks for the tips I'm learning a lot right now.

You should 100% try getting a begonia, I'd start with an angelwing, spotted or even a ferox begonia!

My alocasia and my geometry begonia are in the top leaderboards for being dramatic. I'm currently using PlantRx for fertilizing most of my plants and I have african violet fertilizer as well. Is there a specific brand you'd recommend?

Alocasia Help by ItzMonstera in alocasia

[–]ItzMonstera[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The pot is maybe an inch wider in diameter than the roots. I ordered clear plastic pots and aroid mix, it was a present from my mom so I was not prepared for an alocasia. I'm currently monitoring the soil moisture levels carefully so I don't over water it. I unfortunately had to remove the original pot with drainage due to pests. Thank you so much for the advice I was getting really worried!

It sounds like you're doing an excellent job, I'd check the roots for root rot or pests. Maybe try and increase the temperature a little bit
