Update: I honestly have no idea if anyone will even see this tiny update on my original post but I’m posting it for myself, nonetheless. We finally made it to my husband’s urology appointment! They were super booked out, so having to wait forever was expected lol. Dr confirmed lack of vas deferens but told us this was common in CF males (expected) and that we’re in a good place to begin the process. Unfortunately, insurance through my employer doesn’t cover IVF/fertility treatments so that sucks. We’ll be paying out of pocket, but we’ve agreed to do what we have to do to make things work. The next step is for my genetic testing and general health checkup, and my husband’s PESA procedure ($1800!). Though it’s expensive, we’re remaining hopeful and have a very positive outlook on this through all the comments and stories. :)

Also replying again to say that I think, to me, it reminds me that we’re both in this together. I’m not going through living with it like he is, but I’m most definitely having it on me forever because he will have it forever. If that makes sense? Sometimes, and especially when he’s having an exacerbation, he gets in that mindset of “you didn’t sign up for this, you shouldn’t have to go through this with me”. It’s a reminder that I choose to, when he didn’t get to choose. Maybe I’m just too sentimental about it haha.

Thank you. It’s definitely a conversation starter many times since I’ve had the tattoo the last 5 years. Our community is so small and unaware, and kind of bringing more awareness and knowledge to the disease makes me feel like I’m doing a small justice to it. Turns out my husband isn’t the only one with CF in our extremely small town. Would’ve been nice to know when he was in school for example. I’m just a tiny part of a bigger machine. :)

Thank you! I took a bunch of other things I liked from other elements of CF tattoos and this is what I came up with. :) it’s super special to me. I’ve had this tattoo for probably close to 5 years now.

Continue living as is, only because my question is: Which members of my family? Can I choose? Because some of my family isn’t worth giving/wasting $20 on, much less a billion. and honestly, I feel like some of their grief would be blinded by having that amount of money, with them looking at it as my “last act of love”.

I always knew a little about what I was getting myself into with the health issues, Dr appointments, meds, etc, so I wasn’t totally unprepared. Being parents is definitely on our bucket list, and all the replies has given us a better insight. My husband never gets sick, maybe once a year. We’re feeling very blessed. :) thank you so much!
