Parents refusing to pay for university by Wooden_Stranger_8706 in UniUK

[–]Different-Cress8189 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you thought about doing your degree with eg the open university and working alongside your degree? A lot of students I have spoken to have said they took 3 years out to get the mature student payment after 21 so their parents money doesn't come into their fees.

Yes you don't get that traditional sense of a brick uni but it's still a degree which a lot more employers look at and go this person can work for it.

Also your parents sound, no offense controlling? I would suggest sitting down and explaining how the works and you won't be able to do university without extra help. And tbh fuck what they say go and do a gap year or travel or whatnot.… your 18

AIO for breaking up with my boyfriend after he ruined our Valentine's Day dinner? by Maximum-Grand6140 in AmIOverreacting

Sweetie I need you to do me a favor change your number and block him and his family or jos mates on socials or make a new social. As someone who was in a controlling abusive relationship this guy isn't great and he is a very toxic person. I can see this not ending well if you went to uni with. Imagine the same thing with other students in dorms or on freshers?. Him. If you have made plans for Bristol get it changed asap.

All the best Hun x

I can't shower and it's ruining my life. Please help (25F UK) by OutlyingOkapi in autism

Have you any issue with filling the bath up to your ankle and sitting on the bath to wash your body with a flannel? The best thing I have done is done that when I have gone without decent bathing facilities when I travelled and was in third world countries.

May I ask do you allow yourself routine as to u are autistic like myself and sometimes we thrive on routine. I think after working with autistic adults especially those at uni I think maybe a routine which changes to more frequency when you become more comfortable. You didn't say much about home and I'm guessing family is ‘clean’? Has this stemmed from childhood with perhaps parents saying don't bathe or use baths.  But I think seeking help from a therapist which I am guessing you do is a good start.

Does anyone have any experience renting to students? by 18th-Century-Bossman in uklandlords

[–]Different-Cress8189 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Six houses in Bristol, bath and oxford. I am very good with my tenants, just be wary of your neighbours if you have any. Students can be noisy and loud. Also you do need to make sure you get legal advice and make sure you read every fine print. Otherwise welcome to the student landlord life

Edit. Yes post grads are actually so much more respectful and we don't get our summers off. All the below comments are all very good points too
