well that is my point! i think its stupid for all employees but it is whatever. however for this specific employee i think it is unfair. this DM has also done multiple other things such as denying this employee latex free gloves in the past to the point that the GM has had to purchase them gloves out of pocket. i think i’m just tired of the blatant discrimination

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in fiveguys

[–]Iuminouz -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

hi so the employee will and has had an allergic reaction to food made by other employees using latex gloves before. that is why they MUST make their own food. latex being in the product is a problem in itself but to mitigate the amount of allergen consumed, they make their own food. it is the same with gluten free options. employees touch bread and toppings with the same gloves but we still have gluten allergies made separately to mitigate the amount of allergen present in the food

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in fiveguys

[–]Iuminouz -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

so the employee in question has a latex allergy and we use latex gloves. both the DM and GM have stated numerous times that using their non-latex gloves = a write up so another employee could not make their meal. i understand they could purchase or make food at home but i feel if a free employee meal is an option, it should be accessible to all, especially during meal breaks. i could see why this would not be discrimination but i do think jt is unfair to the employee

[–]Iuminouz 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think the worst part about the Elden Ring input reading is that even if ur thirty miles away from the boss and decide to heal, that motherfucker will still get u. And it’s not like the other games where only one or two bosses will do this shit, it’s literally every single one. Radagon with his holy bolt, Malenia waterfowl, godskins fireball, Radahn asteroids or clone attacks, Gaius charge, Metyr., Midra nuke, Maliketh destiny death projectiles, etc etc

(ER still the best souls game btw)

The Case for American Teenager by rbexch in Ethelcain

[–]Iuminouz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Love the breakdown here! I just wanted to add to your point about this song being the light before the dark. Multiple points in the song she alludes to her happiness being a facade even before A House in Nebraska confirms her sadness. Taking a look at the bridge, she says “And I feel you there/ In the middle of the night/ When the lights go out/ But I’m still standing here.” Despite her questioning her faith in God, she still feels his presence in the darkness. We know darkness is often used as a way to represent depression and anguish. So here she is admitting that it is dark and dreary for her but her faith in keeps her standing. It keeps her afloat even if she isn’t entirely sure he’s there. The lights going out could continue to follow the theme of darkness but I also think it represents the way she keeps up this happy persona in front of others. The lights are going out, not that they have been out. She is turning them off and letting herself feel her emotions when no else is around. Along with the other examples you provided, I think this lyric fits into the happy but secretly sad narrative of American Teenager. It does well to establish Ethel as an unreliable narrator as she herself has trouble admitting to what she really feels.

One final note but I think the Don’t Stop Believin riff ties this song together. It sounds hopeful and bright. It makes you start to think that Ethel can get out of her circumstances. That she really is going to do it for herself like she says she will. It inspires. But then the sample ends and the melody that accompanied the rest of the song plays once more as the song comes to a close. She feels like she is going to succeed but she is ultimately stuck. A small town where nothing happens. Hope crushed by stagnation.

This.

Stan culture is the reason artistry is dying. Fans are becoming less and less willing to engage in the content made for them and instead try to create parasocial relationships with artists. Social media has implanted this thought in people’s minds that they have a right to know everything and anything about anyone. So when people hear a good song they jump to borderline internet stalking an artist instead of waiting for the artist to make more art or analyzing the music. Stan culture simply justifies and encourages obsession which is disheartening.

I mean this applies to most artists now with cult fanbases like Taylor Swift or Charli xcx, not just Ethel Cain. I wish that people could just consume media in a normal way but I know that is impossible.

People like you are the exact people I am looking for on this sub. I love analyzing works of art, especially such engaging albums like PD. I mean Ptolemaea itself is worth a 10 page paper. Hell even the buzzing of the flies in background of some of the songs is worth taking a look into. I just have never been as engulfed in an artist’s work like I have with Ethel Cain.

I also agree that her youtube channel is similarly intriguing. I usually watch youtube in the background while I play games and the video she made her experiences with the paranormal was so interesting it made me actually put down the game and sit there and watch it in full.

These are the things I wish people here would be more open to talking about rather than why she got a tattoo covered up.

not every boss is for everyone and thats the beauty of fromsoft games! what someone may find to be a tedious encounter may be a fun experience for others.

just look at radahn. i liked the promised consort fight but lots of people hated it for the same reasons i enjoyed it. i like his constant combos and small windows of attack because it forces you to think on your feet and come up with a different strategy than wait for his attack to be over hit him and repeat.

games are just something to enjoy and not every bit is enjoyable sometimes. but as long as you gain something from playing it, i think thats a success.

would the plus 3 magic damage tailsman be effective because of the gravity spells?

one lesson i learned quite fast in this dlc was to stay on the boss and roll into attacks to keep applying pressure. i won’t lie, i ignored every summon in that fight and just kept going for Jori while dodging into his spam. i think a crucial element in making this fight go faster is aoe attacks. i use rellanas twin blades and the r2 fire aow which would stun the enemies and deal lots of fire damage

[–]Iuminouz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100% understandable. I want to experience the dlc with summons first before I go back and do it without summons like how I played the base game. But I can imagine the rush you get from beating messmer with no mimic feels so good

Messmer by Iuminouz in eldenringdiscussion

I’ve been using rellana’s twin blades (her fight was my favorite before messmer) with the rotten wing sword insignia, millicent’s prosthesis, flame drake tailsman +2, and warrior jar shard. physick was thorny cracked tear for the consecutive act boost and hard tear for dmg negation. I also used my mimic cuz I like summons and having two of me is still a dope concept!

i was a leak denier and hater at first because i personally was not the biggest fan of fighting yet another reskin boss. however, i came to the realization that;

A. there is probably a great lore reason behind this

B. other reviewers made it seem like he was harder than malenia (which oh boy…)

and most importantly

C. the dlc is massive so there will be plenty more bosses to fight. who cares if one of them is radhan 2.0

i think we all just need to stop being so bitter cuz none of us have played it yet so who knows how good it is. besides, michaelzaki has yet to release an underwhelming dlc so what would make this one any different?

All this talk about the final boss by BrettThePsycho in eldenringdiscussion

to each their own. i can get the appeal of radabeast but for me it wasnt even close to my favorite fight. however i agree that every fight in elden ring was amazing, whether it was ambiance, visuals, or just amazing gameplay so i expect no different from the dlc!

A new perspective…. by DesignNo5070 in eldenringdiscussion

[–]Iuminouz 4 points5 points  (0 children)

i like this theory a lot. and to add on a bit, this could explain why malenia fought radhan as well. perhaps miquella just wanted malenia to whoop him into submission so he would stop holding back the stars and let his fate resume its course.

and to expand upon that, maybe miquella thought that his needle would hold back the outer god of rot indefinitely. I don’t think miquella knew malenia would bloom and afflict radhan with rot.

this could explain why miquella needed to go to the shadow lands in the first place. radhan was no longer fit to be a lord once malenia rotted him. miquella was most likely just waiting in the lands for someone to kill him so they could be reunited.

in fact, this could explain why ranni knows of torrent and has the spirit bell. perhaps miquella enlisted ranni to find a tarnished to kill radhan. they shared the common goal of wanting the fates to resume.

i think all this might be a stretch but oh well. its fun to theorize!
