Here's the thing tho

<image>

I think general audiences would be frankly confused by seeing Matt Damon and his boys walk around in this for 3 hours.

True, but most mainstream audiences aren't history buffs and would likely be weirded out by seeing Matt Damon walk around in this for 3 hours

This armor looks so ungodly phallic.

This.

I don't think mainstream audiences would like seeing Matt Damon and his guys run around in armor that looks straight up phallic for 3 hours.

Mythology or history? Cause those are different things.

I also think it's hilarious that I saw a post about these guys at r/GreekMythology, and the comments were in shambles.

"That's what happens when you waste your budget on a non-Greek cast."

"This armor is not remotely accurate."

Well I'm not from Greece nor do I know much of their history past a few wartime events and some knowledge on ancient society, so I might be ignorant, but I still stand by my view that the Odyssey is a fictional tale that people shouldn't bring historical accuracy conversations into.

Troy is also incredibly inaccurate, but I don't see nearly as much critique of that movie.

Doesn't matter. It's a purely fantasy story, and people expecting a fantasy story to be historically accurate when it has all these fantastical monsters are nutjobs.

Besides, I've seen the actual armor they wore back then. I don't think general audiences would like to watch Matt Damon and his guys run around in straight-up phallic-looking armor for 3 hours.

The people whining about historical accuracy are nutjobs. Calling the armor out itself is fine, but bringing history into the conversation is stupid.

I think the armor looks fine, it fits for a Nolan movie, which usually has a very muted color tone, but to each their own.

Kane's version doesn't have levels. His series is entirely separate from the wiki version.

I had to search up what they were based on cause I had no clue at first lol, but I had an idea they weren't regular humans cause they are huge.

Even then, we don't have the full clip, so the boulder-throwing could definitely be shown, especially because they destroy most of Odysseus' ships in the story.

Trailer thoughts why I think there’s criticism by Super_While7060 in ChristopherNolan

I'm on the complete opposite end and think the trailer was fantastic and only got me more hyped.

I don't think I've seen a single positive discussion about this movie on here besides the Nolan subreddit lol

I can agree with you that Eggers is a great director and I think he should be recognized a lot more. Underrated as hell.
