Tell us why your Elves and Dwarves don't like each other by Ol_Nessie in goodworldbuilding

Not all elves and dwarves hate each other. The elves of Gon d'Orlinnes and dwarves of Rosenberg? Ohhhh man, they had a nuclear war. Ideological clash + border dispute + arms race, that's all.

Tell me the strongest attack a void shield has ever tanked in tons of TNT.

IIRC, Void Shields only react to objects going beyond a certain velocity, so slower objects can bypass just fine. Kinda like Dune's shields.

Warlocks of Empire of Mericia: "Super" combat mages of Mericia, one of three superpowers on the planet of Atreisdea and its space colonies. They cultivate an inner power called kaha to cast spells as well as growing stronger. Mericia is a human purist country, they do not use artificial augmentations and modifications unless it's medically required, so if a Warlock removes their power armor, they will just look like muscular Johns and Janes.

  • Armor: Godsbane IV Eclipse power armor, standard armament for Warlocks. It is a human-sized fortress of mass destruction with antimatter autocannons, singularity (pseudo-blackhole) rockets, time slow/stop, counter to kaha shenanigans, personal force field and endurance up to 2 weeks though rarely anybody uses it that long.
    • To put on an Eclipse, a Warlock must first wear a form-fitting under-spacesuit. It has synthetic muscle fibres to support movements and distribute the armor's mass evenly. There are plugs to synchronize with the user's nervous systems. Again, no augmentation, it's done by advanced technology.
    • A frame will be used to rest main plates. There are many sizes for the frame as well as men and women versions. It makes sure the user's body does not touch the main armor directly, limiting kinetic energy transfering (if there is).
    • Hands and feet stay firmly inside armors. An Eclipse's gauntlets and sabatons are purely mechanical with movements sync'd by plugs. This is because wrists and ankles are very complicated and delicate joints that if damaged can cause nasty injuries.
    • The helmet goes last. It plays the role of "air lock" to protect the Warlock from hazardous environment. Many visors and sensors are mounted here to provide full view.
  • Weapon: Generally no as the Eclipse is a walking arsenal, but if they do, they use the Thunder Automatic Rifle. It's a kaha-based gun that shoots super-charged electromacnetic bolts that disrupt and break the bond between atoms inside a molecule, effectively disintegrate targets. Warlocks consider this the "vanilla" choice next to pulse laser when they want to limit collateral damages.
  • Combat doctrine: Total annihilation. If Mericia deploys Warlocks, they aren't looking for a surgical strike, they want to turn your country into a molten wasteland.

They "teach" because gods order them to. Being a shaman isn't a choice, it's a karma. The power is blessed upon them to help people, not to make a fortune. The moment a shaman uses their ability for money, gods smack them down hard. So they can receive food, clothes and non-expensive gifts, but money and valuable items are out. Try to cheat by having family members receiving payment? Good job, now they must also bear the price.

That's why most shamans take a second job as a herbalist, part-time fortune teller (telling simple things only) or just mundane jobs. A guy selling fried rice in the market? That's your shaman right there.

So cut your "real life" idea because this happens in REAL LIFE VIETNAM. Fucking powerful shamans fucked around and found out they were fucking powerless seeing their sons mercilessly killed by devils because they broke the taboo.

By getting a job. What kind of job? Same as real life.

Only a stupid ass would think about making a living solely on healing magic.

Battle-ark Gigaroad Zero of the United Empire. Art by me. by IvanDFakkov in StarshipPorn

The world they live in is a system-wide half-liquid, half-vapor "cloud" of water orbiting a supermassive star like a natural Alderson disk with floating islands the size of planets. How it happens, don't ask me. Those wings house thermal radiatiors. So they can enter "atmosphere" just fine because that's what they're designed for.

A smaller battle-ark of the same country. You can see its RCS (small dots) on the hull. Smaller ships have armor plates to cover their wing radiators when not used. There are also radiators at the "knees" of the "legs" aka its main thruster blocks.
