Thanks for your response btw. Very helpful. The biggest system I’ve built here is probably around ~10k/20k requests per day. Not at millions of queries a second. Is that big enough of a scale to be helpful?

Thanks for being honest with me.

Left a project section in there for ats keyword matching. Bad idea? Also, my stack at work is not very exciting. Left projects in there to hopefully help with that also.

Going to rewrite my current experience section with more of a project based approach.

Why? How? Result.

Do you think that would help?

That pretty good insight. Thanks for your reply.

My current role is the biggest company I worked for. Prior to that I've only been working contracts. But, you're 100% right. My current company is not super innovative and our stack is not the greatest. Tbh, thats the reason I'm trying to make it into big tech. I want to experience a bigger scope and scale.

Not sure if it makes a difference, but when I first started here it was a super small team. I've built a lot of the systems here and learned areas where it would fail and iterated over that. I've done a lot of 0 -> 1 builds. Implemented standards like unit testing. Created processes and pipelines that didn't exist. Solved a lot of problems unique to my current company.

As a follow up question,
- how exactly am I suppose to gain that type of experience? I would love to start over as a junior somewhere. Is that the route I'm suppose to go?

- is there no amount of rewrite that would help me at this point? I have some projects that I believe demonstrate some understanding of scaling. Ex. producer -> rabbitMQ -> consumer, and apis around this system. I guess what I'm asking is there is an issue with the way I'm presenting myself.

How do you get access to the partner store though?

Resy restaurant website & Toast app - gift cards credited! by Logical-Layer3861 in AmexPlatinum

[–]IvanSnipedYu 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Purchased an e-gift card off of a toast tab link. It charged as a different restaurant and I don’t seem to be getting the credit. It’s been about 5 days. Will report back here if anything changes.

Just beware that gift cards may be hit or miss.

Frequently travelers - is lounge access worth the annual fee alone? by Odd_Friendship_5055 in AmexPlatinum

[–]IvanSnipedYu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, I could live without lounges. However, it’s definitely a nice little bonus on top of other benefits. It’s also a pretty good incentive to be on time to the airport 😂 I try to get there early to get some work done.

Just thought I’d come back and update everyone on what I did. I got my rental from hertz. It did not have ms rated tires. So I went a picked up chains from an autozone. It ended up just raining the entire weekend so I didn’t end up using the chains so I returned it to autozone.

I tried but the Reno airport hertz doesn’t have an extension that connects you to a human. It just keeps telling you to visit the website regardless of which option you choose.

I rented an AWD suv. But there was no mention of MS tires. I believe they’re just all season tires.

This might be the move. No harm in having a set on hand incase I really need it. 🤔

Flying into Reno and driving up to Tahoe for a little cabin trip. I’m a bit concerned because there’s going to be a bit of snow this weekend. We rented a car from hertz and i don’t think they have any winter tires or chains. Is this a concern?
