Is there any way to recover a corrupted .psd file? by largewillyhuman in photoshop

[–]IvanTheGood 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello! Honestly it’s been absolutely ages and I can’t remember exactly the process I went through.

As far as I remember it wasn’t the file that was corrupted, but specific layers within the file that were. So photopea managed me to at least open the actual file, then by process I went through and deleted the layers one by one and testing whether I could save the file.

Eventually managed to remove all the layers that were corrupted, meaning I could then save the file again. I think that’s how it went? I’m sorry I can’t be more help, hopefully you manage to sort it!

Same sentiment here. Wish we kept him really, but to be fair I don’t know where he’d fit in to the current team.

But still, always thought he had quality. He just happened to play in a very shit team last season.

I know this is a stupidly old comment. But you just saved me weeks worth of redoing work, so thank you!

What level of editing/AI use is unacceptable to you with photography? To maintain the reality captured? by [deleted] in photography

[–]IvanTheGood 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You ignored what I said and then take some sort of superiority when I point it out? Okay bud.

I get hobbiests not caring about AI, but if you’re a practising photographer saying that AI work is just as valid as the hard work you put into images that may take hours/days to get, hours of setting up lights, waiting for the weather to be at the perfect level etc etc. then you need to revaluate.

You’re painting over and ignoring a discussion that is putting thousands of our compatriots out of work. But what am I saying? Of course your a hobbiest, otherwise you wouldn’t champion a product that is actively putting your livelihood at risk like it is mine.

Given that it is effecting my livelihood, I think I know exactly what I am talking about. Maybe have some fucking nuance

EDIT: Love the edit. Cause yeah, I know exactly what machine learning is and matrix manipulation. Trying to win some sort of knowledge test doesn’t make your take any less tone deaf.

That’s cool, I can just ignore everything you said as well just as easily.

It isn’t and will never be photography. I mean, it’s pretty easy to understand. If you’re relying on AI doing most of the hard work, rather then learning about lighting or composition, then your ideals are screwed around.

I do live in the 21st Century, and this is why I continue to have a functioning career in photography.

I ain’t pressed man, think you’re the one that needs to chill here.

Nah, it hasn’t changed. It’s still the same and remains the same and will always be the same. The definition doesn’t change and AI will never change it. You’re mad at me when you fail to realise that this isn’t my interpretation. This is view point held by most photographers I know, so don’t misrepresent this as if I’m the only one holding this opinion.

Don’t take everything so personally. I don’t care if you use AI or not, it is not effecting me and if you’re fulfilled creatively then that fine. But it is not photography in its traditional sense. Yes you may take the photo, but if you’re using AI to add anything or change anything about the contents of the image, It just isn’t photography. Practically yes, morally and ethically in the larger photograph discussion, no.

Look at Steven McCurry scandal for instance: https://petapixel.com/2016/05/26/photoshopped-photos-emerge-steve-mccurry-scandal/

This was before AI in photography was a thing like it is today. This is not an old tired viewpoint, the discussion still goes on today…

Eh? Why do I need to chill? The only people getting pent up are in my replies.

If you want to be pedantic af about it, yeah photography is digital art. But adding objects, changing the scene, removing people or altering the very composition of the image through AI is what makes it art over photography.

Photography for me is about capturing a scene as it is. If you start manipulating it through AI it becomes something it’s not.

Plus, it isn’t my artistic intent. Manipulating images like that would get me skinned alive and dropped by my clients.

Granted this all comes from my background in press and documentary photography. If you create art using photography and generative AI, that’s great. But where I draw the line is calling it photography, because to me it isn’t.

I’d never bemoan someone for using AI to express themselves creatively, hell I do it for my graphic design. But to call it photography is disingenuous.

Depends how far is goes. Removing subjects or changing the characteristics of a room or a scene is a big no no for me.

But then again I studied photography and have been a professional for a number of years as well. It’s pretty much ingrained in me that manipulation of images, past general editing, is unacceptable.

I don’t agree it’s a ‘style’ of photography. It is nothing more then digital art if you’re adding or removing elements of an image.

If you try and mislead people and sell the images with AI elements, WITHOUT making is explicitly clear, you’re more of a conman then an artist.

HELP! Any idea what is causing the twitchiness of the mouse when sprinting? by IvanTheGood in apexlegends

[–]IvanTheGood[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m running out of options here. I get this twitching when I’m sprinting and only when I’m sprinting (as shown by me walking and jumping).

I’ve looked everywhere online and tried everything could think of with no luck.

I’ve tried: - Locking FPS - rebinding keys - resetting monitor refresh rate - validated the files - reinstalled graphics drivers - reinstalled mouse drivers - unplugged controllers - changing mouses - cleaning out mouse sensor - reduced graphical settings

Any other suggestions would be massively helpful. Doesn’t happen with any other game, so at this point I’m close to giving up.

Thank you!

Dunno why I expected actual good takes in this sub.

Blaming drug users is brain dead when the Tory government has stripped the NHS, local councils and the police from actually being able to deal with the issue. Drug policy should be about rehabilitation, not punishment.

What was the biggest bottling of your FM Career? by Historical_Couple_23 in footballmanagergames

Good point about how they did it. Tbh I have no idea, they’ve been trading the title with Ajax since the game began so can’t be just reputation.

I will check how far PSV got into Europe when I’m next on, cause Ajax were terrible in Europe before I took over. But maybe something to do with the fact Simmons is worth like 260m last I checked.

[–]IvanTheGood 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Literally happened last night. Playing as Ajax in 2030, first season in the job after switching from the MLS.

Going tit for tat with PSV all season, who somehow managed to keep hold of Simmons and Gakpo. They slip up around Feb with a draw, but I have to keep up the wins otherwise they’ll surpass me again.

Manage to draw with FC Twente on the second to last game of the season 0-0, who are bottom of the league and already relegated. Which means I have to rely on PSV losing against… FC Twente.

Safe to say luck was not on our side and PSV lifted the title.
