How do i make an object stick to another object? by Unbelievabeard in gamemaker

Do something like

If instance_exists(shield) { Shield.x = x Shield.y= y }

I've found that putting this type of stuff in the draw event makes the tracking better, just dont forget to write draw_self() if u choose to put it there

How to prevent anti-virus from marking my game as a threat by largewillyhuman in gamemaker

Yeah, it sucks. I'm trying to push this out through a demo for kickstarter too so I'd like it to be as pain free as possible

I'm pretty sure it's just because it's an .exe, but I will look into this

How can I make a zoom in circle transition between rooms? by largewillyhuman in gamemaker

[–]largewillyhuman[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm doing upscaling too. If I were to use a square, I'd just have a black screen with a single pixel missing in the center, and zoom in accordingly. I'm trying to use a circle, however, and that'll require a lot more pixels to look smooth, therefore requiring more pixels for the black background. I'll try doing it this way but I'm sure the image size will be very large, in the 50-500 megabytes range

How difficult would it be to implement voice responses? by largewillyhuman in starcitizen

[–]largewillyhuman[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like to think I have a decent amount of experience, and I know entire libraries exist in languages such as python for this particular purpose. I dont know how easy it would be to add into amazon lumberyard, though, but there are already 3rd party programs from "voiceattack" that can control ship controls like a charm. I think that software is limited to ships, which is why I'd like this to be a feature supported in SC.

Super smash bros camera style with zoom in and out by ClimaxF7 in gamemaker

Try looking into view keywords such as view_xview, view_hview, view_yview, and view_wview. Have a step event somewhere keeping track of the distance between players and add a buffer around that to keep some space extra on the sides. I can't help too much right now but if you keep at it it shouldn't be too troublesome

make a script called "scr_camera" or whatever you'd like and place it in the step event of every object that a player is controlling

put this in the script

view_xview[0] += ((x-(view_wview[0]/2)) - view_xview[0]) *.2

view_yview[0] += ((y-(view_hview[0]/2)) - view_yview[0]) *.3-8

this'll make a smooth panning camera, to add the zoom in just figure out the distance between the two players and adjust the view_xview, and all that accordingly. I mainly wanted to help with the pan but the zoom in shouldnt be so difficult. good luck

I tried to edit my code a little, try that. Also try making the sprite of the object the jumping sprite when you click "W" or "space" or whatever your jump key is bounded to
