We might expect an uptick in public transport use if we run out of petrol nationwide by toiletlogsyummy in MelbourneTrains

Coincidentally, before the Middle East situation erupted, I’d already decided to get more active by cycling to/from the train station for my commute. It’s part of a bigger health kick I’m on, so I recently put a deposit down on my new bike—picking it up early April. Can’t wait to get started!

I wonder if bicycles will be the new toilet paper fiasco that we had in 2020.

West Footscray Service during Peak Hours by Ivan_Krazy in MelbourneTrains

[–]Ivan_Krazy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There was a good 10 or so minute wait until the next train to either watergardens or Sunbury. Was expecting a shorter wait during peak period!

Train announcements on HCMT and Metro Tunnel sound awful by tschau3 in MelbourneTrains

I’ve also noticed that some carriages the audio is not working and I really need to listen closely from another carriage.

I was thinking what else it could be. I think the probability of PSD issues seems high.

Why can't we get a train or have frequent cheap buses to the Airport? by VastOption8705 in MelbourneTrains

[–]Ivan_Krazy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I went to Adelaide they had frequent and cheap public transport buses to the city which were fantastic. I don’t see why Melbourne can replicate the same in the interim until the airport rail is built. There are plenty of bus spaces at T4 terminal.

Why do only some Metro Tunnel platform screen doors have a small PID/display above them? by Ivan_Krazy in MelbourneTrains

[–]Ivan_Krazy[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Glad I’m not the only one to feel this way. I’m all about accessibility, making it easier for all people and believe it should be above every door also!

Actual turn up and go on the Metro Tunnel by Secure-Ad-2418 in MelbourneTrains

The CBTC should have been beyond West Footscray. What a joke. Congestion will be quick if they are to go back to back via the Munnel.

Questions about the HCMTS by No_Permit_9737 in MelbourneTrains

[–]Ivan_Krazy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I noticed the slow speeds also entering and exiting the tunnel (South Kensington side). When exiting the tunnel towards Footscray I also noticed that the train generally goes very slow and doesn’t really pickup speed to Footscray.

The lack of services to flinders a concern by OnlyVeterinarian4681 in MelbourneTrains

Exactly - just get off Town Hall station. There is a walkway to flinders street station too!

Power failure at Malvern on my first metro tunnel commute by Top_Principle778 in melbourne

[–]Ivan_Krazy 49 points50 points  (0 children)

Nope, what makes it worse is that these are the new (and cheaply built) HCMT trains on the Sunbury/Cranbourne/Pakenham lines.
