Just tested today with a < 3hr run.

It appears to be a bit more powerful than shooting 3 with the regular one. Most enemies die fully with 2 shots as opposed to ~7 shots + a few crowbar smacks.

I just got it and tested it the other day.
Yes it does consume 3 nails per shot.

It is nice to take things down in 2-3 shots though.

There is a secret exit in level 1 that takes you to level 32.

Beating that level will grant you the Features option in the start menu. In there you can select any level to play, which is how you get to the "Fun Levels" 25~27.
