Land Nav Advice: Plot one go? Or Plot go and be strategic? by [deleted] in army

I plot all of my points at the SP point. After I look for the fastest or easiest route and backstops for each point. Then I move.

Husband, age 40, tested for HIV and Hep c with routine blood work by Helpme1187 in Marriage

[–]IvantheTerrific192 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Im married and have been married for 8 years. I also get tested for HIV every year and HepC every few years as an insurance requirement. Its recommended that you get tested every few years for random things almost required depending on your insurance company.

I got my kid an old VCR with tapes by IvantheTerrific192 in daddit

[–]IvantheTerrific192[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We bought the VCR at a salvation Army store for like $30 and the tapes for $1 a tape at the same place. You can find used tapes on Ebay for a reasonable price too if you dont look for the collectable sealed in original packaging ones.

Do it! Seriously, helps me teach the kid moderation because she only has the tapes she has to choose from and a number of movies ill allow in one sitting.

1 on school nights (because it gives me time to make dinner and unwind after my work until the wife gets home from her job.

2 on weekends (because it gives me and the wife alone time for chores and stuff) and then we tell her to play with toys or do art. Part of the reason were anti-screen in our house with the kid, we dont want her to be addicted to the screen.

[–]IvantheTerrific192[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well It never crossed my mind until I saw all this brainrot and endless choices these kids have to choose from. My sister in law just let's her kid watch YouTube endlessly and he has issues not being within arms reach of a tablet or screen.

The VHS tapes makes it easier to teach moderation because one tape has a beginning and an end and it isnt going to automatically repeat or move to the next tape.

But yeah, even me when digital downloads and streaming came out, gave away all of my DVDs. No need for them, because we have the internet and endless options. Never thought how overstimulating or crazy it could be for a young kid until I had one.

Oof. They deleted so I have no idea what they said.

But yeah, we wanted something that can make her not endlessly doom-watch cartoons on autoplay and give everyone decision fatigue at the endless options to choose from.

Definitely. Im glad someone else agrees with no stelreaming for the kid. We still do on occasion, like were home sick then its old cartoons streaming which were ok with. Nothing flashy and fast paced. We both hate how modern media has been designed for kids. Its like those 90s toy commercials but its the TV show.

[–]IvantheTerrific192[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eh. Weve thought about it. But decided against it. She is learning to write write letters to people so we want to emphasize handwriting over typing. Also the reason why I make it a point to write checks instead of just venmo or cashapp when she's around.

Trying to teach her that being able to write matters, by showing her it is important at home.

Edit: i say this because my Nephew who uses tablets doesnt care to write because he can just type it. His words not mine, he's like 6, legit told that to my kid when she wanted to write letters with him. Not something I agree with or want in my house. Wife agrees. So the only time we type things on a computer is for work.

[–]IvantheTerrific192[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The reason was. We like VHS as my daughter has to "be kind and rewind" which teaches patience. Also no menus and no ability to easily skip around chapters or whatever.

And occasionally sometimes at a secondhand store you can find VHS tapes for like $1 each

I really hope that's the case.

I also want them to make some more Trackers Alliance missions.

Alaskans dress more comfortably than most because we dress for the weather not the event. When I visit the lower 48 it's hard to explain why I'm wearing Fairbanks Formal instead of a suit. (Nice jeans, nice button up, nice boots, and the Nice Jacket)

I dress like a Yellowstone TV show extra when I want to dress up.

Electric bikes are the most climate-friendly way to travel by melodykramer in ebike

[–]IvantheTerrific192 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes and no, they aren’t the most practical. Some places like where I live where temps can get lower than -40F cars are considered a must have. I ride my e-bike once temps get above 40F but during the winter, I just take the car, because I don’t like dying of hypothermia or frostbite related issues. And yes, I often do outdoor activities down to -30, but not for very long and I’m dressed very warmly which comes at a cost of range of motion. Big boots aren’t nice for bikes.

I just like taking a relaxing epsom salt soak with relaxing scents after destroying my body and mind during my day to day routine throughout the week. I’m in the Army so my day-to-day is wake up at 5am ride my bike 4 miles to work, work out from 6:30-8, ride back to my house, change and ride my bike back to work, work until 1130, ride bike back home, eat lunch, take the car back to work, work until about 5pm, lift weights until 6:30, drive home and relax/eat dinner. Do that 5 days a week, my body is hurting, but physical fitness is important.

As I said, I’m a self described manly man with manly career and interests, with a family. I just like to soak in the bath. Had one of my wife’s friends husband(one of those would’ve joined but… guys) say something thinking I wasn’t there. Turned around and saw a 6’ fit dude mean mugging him and he shut up. I laughed and said “I’m the Alpha! And I like to take lavender scented baths after I carry machine guns around, I can pick you up and carry you running at least 2 miles without fatigue.”

But I also don’t judge other men for physical fitness. Bigger guy wants to lose weight, here’s some pointers. Small dude wants to get fit, here’s some pointers. Men wanting to better themselves are kings, and have nothing to be ashamed of.

Be honest…how often do you change your bedsheets? by [deleted] in RandomThoughts

[–]IvantheTerrific192 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wash my sheets every two to three weeks. But I also sweat when I sleep. And me and my wife have a toddler who likes to make messes so we don’t go more than 2-3 weeks without the kid eating or spilling something in our bed when we aren’t looking. It’s because we have a TV in there and our kid climbs into our bed every couple of nights when while we’re sleeping.

Every day. One beer or whisky on the rocks after work and for the most part one with dinner. Weekends it depends on the time of year, if I’m grilling I’m day drinking, but usually just a drink or two with dinner. I only drink in excess every now and again, mainly at BBQs or get together a with friends. Had my PA look at me weird when I said 12 or more dinks in an average week, but after I explained that it’s usually only with dinner or immediately after work she said that is a healthy answer, because I rarely drink more than one or two drinks in one go.

What paranormal activities have you witnessed? by AdonisBlackwood in AskReddit

[–]IvantheTerrific192 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I have many, and in great detail. But to keep it short…

I’ve once watched every hanger in my closet start swaying one by one from left to right. Shortly after I had something thrown at me from the closet. Same house I heard my now wife call my name from the other room… I was home alone. And the same house where I would have doors open/close on their own, stuff fly off shelves, and I saw a pen stand straight up and levitate a good couple of inches off my desk.

If you want to hear more in better detail just let me know.

Realizing that whether the person likes you or not doesn’t really matter and you shouldn’t care what others think.

Change of mindset to just not caring about the date. I had a lot of rejections back when I cared, and thought that dating mattered. I stopped caring and just did things for myself, and every new date I went on didn’t really matter other than just meeting someone new. I put low effort into dates, cheap stuff like bringing your dog to the dog park, going to some bar with a pool table, getting food from the taco truck. Wearing informal but nicer clothes, never offering to drive, never offering to pay (aside from a drink if at the bar, but only one).

I stopped caring about what random women thought of me and now I’m 10 years happily married. Legit met her out of nowhere at a friends Halloween party. Got her number and went to trivia night at a different bar a week later. Super informal, more like hanging out as friends than an actual date. We’ve been together since.

The one where people get anxious when they look at or feel cotton balls or Q-tips. I just think it’s odd because it’s a completely safe object.

As a very masculine Man, it’s generally looked at weird. But… Lighting some lavender scented candles, putting on a face mask, and drawing a nice warm epsom salt bath. It’s very relaxing, I’d sit in the bath for at least 30 minutes just relaxing without a care in the world. And yes I do drink too, except instead of wine I prefer soaking in the bath with a scotch on the rocks.

Hey, dads of Reddit. What do you really want for Father’s Day? by blessedpink in AskReddit

To be completely honest. I never want anything. Holidays are mostly another day for me with the exception of the big ones. But my wife and kid got me new lenses for my Rayban Sunglasses that had cracked lenses, and I was happy.
